J13's WITB: Update- FUJIKURA AXIOM

J - I'm about to join you on the g400lst/ KK DC 70tx wagon. It's been sitting for a week un-hit just waiting for the weather to permit. Previous combo was M2/KK DC. I had this pro orange to test with the heads as well. However the synergy will be whispering to me all winter I imagine.

 

Been on the same wagon for a few weeks now. I normally play my driver at 45.5. I took it down to 44.75 to get the weight right. Killer combo.

Luckily I won't have to cut mine down as I have convinced myself that the ping was made just for me . I have 8 grams of melt in my m2 which brought it to 203g without the adapter. Ping head is 204g. Although I may trim just a touch as I'll probably want to add a little bit of melt to it for sound even though I know it's much improved.

 

I was expecting to hate the sound based on previous Ping driver tests. It's much better.

 

Something about these heads just look great behind the ball.

 

I'm having a tough time choosing between the 9 head playing at the big minus or the LST at 8.5. Only seeing about 100-150 in spin difference. The LST is getting me about 8-10 more yards on average but the 9 head is deadly accurate.

The sound is much improved but with melt it's perfect. Can't go wrong though with either head it's really a great stick

Both are forgiving but Ping's MOI is higher, which is amazing considering it's only 440cc and the TM has a footprint of a 500cc head

Definitely need get the g400lst hotmelted. So far on the course the m2/Pro Orange is besting the g400lst/KK DC combo. But it’s very close. Ping is about 10-15 yards longer and more fade biased but the M2 is straighter and lower launching. Ping plays 3/4”(45.25” vs 44.50”)longer on than the M2 though so that will make a difference. Need to extend the pro orange a touch. I have 7 grams of melt in the M2 so it feels and sounds much better.

Not bad for your first pod cast... Clearly you could increase your knowledge of golf clubs and shafts, I'd suggest getting fit and reading a lot of material on wrx, then cap it off with some on course testing, and trying every putter under the sun. Then, and only then will you make it to wrx platinum status....

Yeah i felt the same way, i added about 3g's and it was much better. I tried the Orange V2 and didn't like it but i heard V3 is a lot better.

Sounds like there will be a Rogue SZ in your future(I know, obvious by how much you liked the Epic SZ). I haven't seen the Rogue SZ in person yet, but I did see the regular Rogue. The crown looks pulled back and flattened out a pretty good bit compared to the Epic. Was told the Rogue SZ would be more compact looking, more shaped like the original SZ, which would be much better to me shape wise than the new non-SZ model.

 

I know it will be a while before a new G series comes out, but I'm curious, if you like the G400 that much, how much better(forgiving/MOI) could they possibly make it if they were to get that tech in a 460 head instead of a 440 head.

Thanks! Right now i'm hitting the G400lst really well so whatever i test has it's work cut out for it. For whatever reason (maybe higher MOI) i'm hitting a lot of fairways so if the Rogue SZ or M3/M4 can do better i'm all for it. They should all be out by Feb so we shall see.
