Update:

 

After multiple rounds with both I decided to go with the SIM Ti. Both are exceptional and perform on the course but in the end I chose the SIM because I could open the face and create a less left shot shape. TM did a great job slimming down the adapter so it's not very noticeable (something i wish callaway would do).

 

Anyway here's the rundown:

 

Distance: SIM Ti due to opening the face so i felt like i could go harder at it without the dreaded hook. Both are long though

Dispersion: SIM Ti - reason above

Looks: Cally Mavrik - love the shape more but it goes left for me

Off the deck - Cally Mavrik seemed easier to elevate off the deck. Not exactly sure why but it was very easy to get the ball up

Feel/Sound - Without melt the Cally mavrik feels better, feels more like the m2 of old with a little less crack. Sim Ti feels great though just not as good

 

 

In the end performance won out and the SIM Ti is in. Both look great behind the ball so i'm not sacrificing much even though i prefer the look of the Mavrik a bit more. It all came down to being able to dial the loft and face angle so i could take left out. If it was easier to bend woods i probably would have staying with the Mavrik but you can't and i'm not a tour player with a van that follows me around lol. Two great fwy woods though

I played the Callaway X Hot pro hybrids for years before it was time to retire them. At which point I grabbed the Apex (version 1) #3 and 4 hybrids. I still have them today and they rotate in and out as indicated in my signature, I find I prefer the look of the Apex UT 24* in the #4 spot. Those Apex hybrids were the first to go to the Adams shape. About the same time Chip Brewer came to Callaway, so that made sense. I do prefer the shape of the old XHP hybrids. The Mavrik Pro hybrid resembles that shape more, so I'll be keeping an eye on how it works out for you. Really looks great. As always, love reading your WITB. It's obvious you have a passion for the game and the gear, and you put in a lot of effort sharing it with the members here. I'm sure I speak for many in saying thanks for all the great content!

Thank you for the kind words and I completely understand what your talking about in regards to shape. The Mav Pro is really impressive from a consistency standpoint. Its maybe the first hybrid i've tried that I feel is a true iron replacement. It doesn't have a left shot and it doesn't give me any jumpers. Win / win

haha i don't blame him. Both the SIM Ti and Max fwy woods are the best of the year IMO. TM did a great job. Now to test shafts in that 3 wood and have a new one in the driver. More on that to come :-)

Small update on the 3 wood:

After 4-5 rounds the SIM Ti has been stellar. Dropped my old Aldila RIP 80X in and it got even better. Off the deck it's a little lower traj than i'd like but i use it so rarely off the deck i don't mind. Just reminded me of how much i enjoyed the RIP profile.

 

That leads me to my next update which i'll add some pics tonight just have to snap a few. I went down the rabbit hole and have been blown away by what i've found :-)

Sim hybrid here we go

haha that will be tested but not yet.

 

So here is the new money stick and 3 wood. The 2020 Aldila RIPX shaft is amazing. So much so that I got the 95x for the 3 wood and wow. CANNON ?.

 

RIPX is LOW spin, slightly lower than Tensei pro white and a few hundred Rpms lower than the Tensei pro orange. Aldila kept all the attributes of the RIP Alpha but added a big kick in the shaft so it feels active now vs boardy (rip alpha). Also I haven’t sniffed the left side of the course with either club so it’s a very unique shaft.

 

So setup is cobra Xtreme (unreal head) with RIPX 75X (tour x) and sim Ti with RIPX 95x at 42”. If you haven’t checked these shafts out yet and looking for a low spin monster with feel and kick then do yourself the favor. Got mine both for $225 so not outrageous either.

Yeah i think that's a good setup. I"m almost tempted to try a 95TX in my driver at 44" haha.

HIGHLY recommend it. I only needed 1/2" tipping on the 75TX and it's great. The 95TX is tipped 1" and it's so stable in the 3 wood. Playing today so i'll have another update later.

Is the SIM Max 3w shallower faced than the Ti? I had the Ti and for the life of me I couldn't handle how deep the face was. I need something for both tee balls and fairway shots. My F9 got snapped on my golf vacation so the spot is currently open :).

Max has a deeper face and overall larger profile than the SIM Ti. If you want something more shallow check out the Callaway Mav SZ 3 wood.

Here I was about to get a tensei orange, but I had a guy suggest this new RipX, so I say sure let's go for it gimme a 75TX and then and this shows up in your bag? is this the winner or a summer fling? Orange no bueno? Also I am on the fence in getting a hzrdus green 70 6.5TX, any words of wisdom? Thx. Haha.

Gave my RIPX to a buddy to try tonight in our league. He’s a + hcp and former mini tour player for reference. He absolutely loved it and wanted to buy mine but I told him no dice. His feedback was 

 

Very anti left and much more runout then his setup with handcrafted project x hzrdus black. He said feel is superb and much more active than what he had. Overall he wants to borrow it for a tourney this weekend and see how it goes but he’s in love haha.

I remember the first generation RIP was the bomb. How does the X compare to the original?

RIP is one of those GOAT shafts that so many people played when it hit the market. I still have the 80 Alpha and love it. The RIPX performs very similarly in terms of spin reduction and launch but feels much more active than the original profile. It has a kick in the shaft but it doesn't go left unless you throw up on the shot. The best part about RIPX is the performance you get with the feel which the original lacked a little. Whatever that Mamba tech is certainly plays a part in these shafts.
