J13's WITB: Update- FUJIKURA AXIOM

Quick Putter update :golfer:

So for anyone reading along I devoted much of the summer to trying every style under the sun to really figure out what neck, shape, size, ect. works best for me ON COURSE. I've been on the SAM putt lab, Tomi System, and others, but the results never translated to the course. I think those systems are great at improving stroke mechanics but i just don't seem to have a ton of luck in terms of fitting. Again this is just my experience.

Fast forward to today and i am settling into what works best.

Neck - Flow Neck

Offset - None - 1/2 shaft at most

Style - Blade

Length - 35.5"

Grip - Super Stroke 1.0 size seems to be best for me

Toe Hang - 4-5 o'clock (pm not am :D )

I really wanted to settle on a mallet as they are more balanced, higher moi, ect.. but no matter what i tried I made more putts with the blade. I also realized a square head works best for me and anything with a round back like a rossie mallet or whatever just doesn't suit my eye and throws off my aligment. A little strange but very real. The last ditch effort with a mallet was the Ping Wolverine T as it's a mallet and has no real offset in regards to the hands and head. It made it one round and its currently in the BST :D

This is what i've been using, i should add versa in the title. In the future i'll try some flow necks but it's really hard for me to get away from the white hot insert. I do have another version on the way as we speak I'll post a pic when i get a chance.

Have you liked the microhinge inserts on the new ones, or do you prefer the white hot insert over the microhinge?

I prefer the white hot insert right now. Microhinge is a little too quite for me and the ball comes off a little faster then i'd like. Basically the sound doesn't match the speed and i don't want to have to adapt to a putter.

Any thoughts on like maybe an EVNroll ER2? A smaller mallet but the toe hang of a blade putter.

Problem with ENVroll is they all have the double bend shafts. No slant necks, flow necks, ect... I have tried the EVNroll and to be honest was't a fan of the feel. For some reason I don't like grooves on a putter.

I messed around with a shop putter the other day, personally like the white hot insert much more.

I miss my flow neck putters, especially the Byron I recently let go. Still check them out on BST all the time. Oh well, performance over looks.

I agree on the insert and on playing what works.

New avatar is sick! You should get Tour hats and shirts custom made and your logo stitched in.

I'm waiting on a sponsor so i don't have to pay for them. So far i've gotten zero offers ;)

Had a chance to hit the Cobra F8+ driver figured i'd give my 2cents

My initial thoughts:

Look - Way to busy

Feel / Sound - Fairly muted (indoors) good feel no complaints here

Spin - Depends on weight configuration but no problems here as i was getting low 2000's with weight back

I first tried with the heavy weight forward and like any other movable weight driver it just doesn't work for me. I switched the weights around and dropped the loft to 8.5* and it was much more consistent. I then grabbed the Epic SZ in the same configuration and it pretty much smoked the F8+. Honestly I wanted to like the F8+ but was disappointed. It's a good driver but it's not the Epic or G400. I might do some more testing with it later on but honestly I think the Bio Cell + is still the best driver in the series. Maybe the King LTD replacement will be a big winner.

That's disappointing to hear. I saw the nardo grey F8+ when I stopped in Golf Galaxy over the weekend. I didn't have a chance to hit it since I had the kids with me, but I actually thought it was a good looking club.

I really wanted to like it. The graphics on the crown were just a little too much for me. It was borderline distracting and that's saying something considering i'm currently using the G400 :taunt:

When I saw the marketing story on F8, I thought, "So basically you're admitting to your core clientele that the quality control on the previous drivers you sold them wasn't very good...but it is on this one, we promise."

I hope not because competition is great for the consumer, but thinking the F8 series is going to be a disaster for Cobra. CNC milling driver faces can't be a cheap process, and just can't see them selling many at all.

I get what your saying and agree to a point. I think the CNC milling on the face was a really smart idea because consumers want visible tech. If they market it well and get it out to shops I can see them doing better then last year. I will admit it does stand out so there's something to be said for that. The drivers i'm really anxious to try are the Rogue and M3/M4.

Let’s stop all the small talk......

2018 will have J in a ......

Rogue + Synergy = Can’t Be Beat!

Hahaha it’s a possibility. I want to try the synergy after your glowing review. The Agera and KK DC have been the clear winners for me so if something can unseat those two I will be thrilled.

Where do you buy Callaway tips from? I got rid of my SZ, and have a standard epic head on the way, plus two shafts I need to get tips for.

Usually just acquire them from buying clubs. Haven't bought any in a quite a while. I know golfworks has them but for $40 but that's outrageous.

Gotcha. Yeah, I don't have any in the stable from club/shaft acquisitions at the moment so I just need to round up a few adapters. Totally agree that $40 is a racket, but I'm afraid of what kind of quality control there is on the $10-20 eBay ones as well. I'll have to post something up in the club making forum. Thanks.

FAbb- I may have some extra Callaway adapters in my random $h!t drawer from when I moved recently. I’ll have to do a little searching tonight but if I can find a couple. Just shoot me a message if you’re interested.

You can find some decent suppliers on eBay but you have to sift through a lot of crap. Sounds like Rosco might be able to help you out

J - I’m about to join you on the g400lst/ KK DC 70tx wagon. It’s been sitting for a week un-hit just waiting for the weather to permit. Previous combo was M2/KK DC. I had this pro orange to test with the heads as well. However the synergy will be whispering to me all winter I imagine.

If you're referring to the 2016 M2 then you'll notice the Ping setup more neutral instead of fade bias. The KK DC feel is a big improvement IMO over the KK XT from last year. You need to get to a range ASAP though and try these out!

Been on the same wagon for a few weeks now. I normally play my driver at 45.5. I took it down to 44.75 to get the weight right. Killer combo.

I tried the 2016 m2, twice, both tour issue heads, cracked them both within a week. I’ve played the 2017m2/KK DC 70tx proto since the spring and it has been good but just picked up the G400 and (im)patiently awaiting 60* temps this weekend!

Luckily I won’t have to cut mine down as I have convinced myself that the ping was made just for me ?. I have 8 grams of melt in my m2 which brought it to 203g without the adapter. Ping head is 204g. Although I may trim just a touch as I’ll probably want to add a little bit of melt to it for sound even though I know it’s much improved.
