Seriously, those look fantastic and if decide to move them instead of play them, you know who to contact!

How do the new lofts work with the old clubhead styles?

Most MB's are at the most 2 degrees stronger than MB's from the 1990's. Not a major jump. Modern MB's emphasize move of CG to center face. The use of tungsten and shortened hosels has added a GI dimension that allows or even requires a deloft.

My personal experience is a Nike VR Pro II plays a smidgen longer, maybe a few yards over a standard 90's to 2K era MB. They are easier to attain that peak yardage due to centered sweet spot. Easier to not over spin shot or balloon trajectory. But reality is they are not my longest clubs nor do they change club selection on any given shot.

If you are talking 70's or 80's era MB's. Story might change. I don't play them. Lofts were weaker still but more important, mass tended to be more heel bound and shafts were stiffer even in comparison to 90's variant, never mind post 2K.

I tried the Blue Print from Ping. The CG is beyond center to toe side, it's a nice club, but it is not longer than my Maruman's or 681's or even the 99 Apex.

Thanks for the perspective.  My first irons were Wilson Staff DynaPowered hand-me-downs which went from a 20° 2-iron to a 48° 9-iron--these are 1950s lofts.

There was no matching pitching wedge but a Spalding "sand iron" came with them.

My current clubs have a 42º 9-iron-- not pure blades but not major GI either--and some GI models actually go under 40° from what I see in specs..

Not to make an issue of modern clubs--that's just how they do it now.

I was just curious how they use stronger lofts with pure blades,

but what I see from your response is that even modern pure blades are not quite the same as the classic ones.

That explains it. thanks.

At a crossroads. Would it be wise to see if Titleist drops those JT versions to retail or pull the trigger and try the mizuno pro 221's? I'm jonesing for both but can only have 1. I was ready for the 221's until Nard posted the JT's (thanks for posting those Nard 🖕 ). You guys think Titleist will release that version to retail?

I think the JT line has a higher chance of being released than the AS line, but whether it will be with the exact same zero offset is another matter.

I think it's 50/50. They floated the pictures, named the model, might happen. Could see a batch run done.

Funny I'm frozen on new woods and that's because I was convinced the Tsi  was it but Mizuno's ST line looks super nice too. So I'm holding out on that decision but hope to get it done this Winter.

Both brands are firing on all cylinders right now.

If they do a limited run of JT's, which would make the most sense, I'll probably pass on those as they'll likely be priced way up. The 221's are looking pretty premier all around. These are also tempting, but believe it or not, they're a little CB.

Played an unusual course today. Very tight, but what really stood out were the number of holes that forced you to lay up, sometimes with no more than a mid-iron. I've never played a course before with so many forced lay-ups. To be honest, I won't be rushing back to it.

For example, the last hole was a 377 yard par 4 playing into the wind. The tee-shot is downhill, but the fairway runs out at the 185-yard mark, and after that there's a very good chance of going into a water hazard. (edit: that's based off the distances shown on the course, but the maths doesn't add up. I hit a great tee-shot but was still left with about 155 over water to the centre of the green. Plus, it's uphill)

To clear the water hazard off the tee would require a smash of over 310 yards.

The course was full of holes like that.

Anyway, I went 40-38 for a round of 78. Not bad for a course I've never played before.

On the front nine, I had 2 three-putts and one OB (a 7 on one hole hurt the card), and on the back nine I three-putted the first two holes for bogies, then made 7 straight pars. What was particularly annoying was that those two thee-putts were both from reasonable birdie chances, like 18-ft or closer.

Not a long course, but hard. My irons did well today, my lob wedge not so much. Lots of good shots, but the favourite was probably the 6i to the last, not because it ended close to the flag (it didn't), but because it found the green, was the perfect distance, and led to a straightforward par on a hole where my playing partners struggled to make double.

Good spot. It was a rather ancient design. The course was finished in 2000, but I think the carts predated it.

Looked more like the sort of cart you'd see zipping around Disney Land than a golf course. Low roof as well, so they'd attached foam bumpers to the edges.

Good initial acceleration for an electric cart, though. It must have been a prototype Tesla😂

It was funny that you noticed, because we actually spent quite a bit of time on the first tee while we were waiting to hit talking about what an odd-looking cart it was.

As the first picture (which was taken on the second tee) shows, the group ahead of us weren't exactly big hitters. There was quite a bit of waiting on the tee that day...

Bought these recently: MP5s with a difference. I've already posted them over in the Classic forum, but thought you might like a look at them as well. I *think* they are the same as the rare TP-5s made for the European market, but with the MP stamping these must have been for the US market and, probably, made in 1990 or so, which was when the MP stamping was first used.

They're currently away getting extended a little and new grips.

I haven't hit them properly yet, only into a net off a mat, but they felt great. I'm getting them extended and they are also getting new shafts (edit: new grips, not new shafts. It'd be a bit stupid to get them extended and then put new shafts in them🤪).

The offset isn't that bad--perhaps the camera exaggerates it--but there is a little. I don't mind a bit of offset. For example, the Titleist JT grinds look great, but that zero offset would not help me.
