Nike Engage Wedges

GC70

Recommended Posts

Local golf galaxy has the engages in stock again so I picked up another 60 dual sole and also took the plunge on a 58 ds to bend to 56, hoping to try it out this weekend. Love the 60 so I'm hoping the 56 is just as good. Curiously all the wedges they had stocked were in a clear plastic wrap, no wax on them this time around.

What's the latest on whether Nike is coming out with new wedges in 2016? Thinking about picking up a 50-54SS, and 58TS to replace my SM5s just to change things up a bit but I don't want to if they're going to release something new that I'll want to try haha.

I also wish they had the DS in a 54...the grind looks similar to the M grind and I really love the versatility the 54-M gives me around the green.

Played golf back on May 4th at one of the local Ft. Worth municipal courses. The head pro is trying to close the new Engage wedges he has in inventory.

He has available:

60 Toe Sweep

58 Toe Sweep

56 Toe Sweep

60 Square

58 Square

56 Square

52 Square

All look to have the protective peel-off material on the heads. He has them priced around $85 each.

Don't know if $85 is even a good price or what he still may have available (probably most of them) but if you have interest please PM me. I'll provide you a name, email and phone for the pro at the course.

I thought I read somewhere in this thread that the 56* SS was a slightly different grind than the 54*...I want to bend to 55* and tempted to get the 54* if the grind is the same. I checked the Nike site and they indicate no difference...although on the website, there is a typo that I told Nike about...references the "54/46" options in blurb and should be "54/56"

The next question is the whether the DS or TS in the 60*...much prefer the DS if I can make the SS or DS work well from the sand.

I can verify the DS is great from the sand but the TS is better imo. I have the TS in 60 for close greenside bunkers and flops solely and it's amazing, no full shots though. I bent a 58 DS to 56 (because they don't make a 56 DS) and it's literally my favorite club. I can hit full shots from 50-75 throwing darts and the beveled leading edge makes chipping something I now LOVE to practice. I also bent a 52 SS to 51 and it's a great 90-110 gap wedge.

I never had interest in Nike clubs until I tried them. The wedges are nothing short of amazing.

Have a 56 TS and a 60 SS and love the combination. I was playing toe sweep in prior version and couldnt be happier I upgraded to the new version.

I second this, DS is fine out of the bunkers but the toe sweep is like cheating it's so easy. Like the dual sole better on any other shot around the green though. I also bent a 58 dual sole to 56 and it's been great so far.

Nike is supposed to release new forged irons late this fall. Is there any word on replacing the engage wedges? I see they are being marked down considerably and it's been out for a while now.

There is something coming, be patient

I played the 58 TS last year and thought it was really good out of the sand and long rough! This year I went 58 DS and I'm 6 for 6 in sand saves already!

Can anyone tell what grinds are on Tiger's wedges in these pics? They look squared to me, DS at the very least. Anyone know the loft of his PW? Wondering what his gap is between the PW and 56? Thinking about dropping my gap and changing my 60 out to another DS? I don't take full shots with my 60, but that's probably because it's a TS.

Not exact sure of TW's grind, but it's custom for sure. (Sorry not much help, lol).

Here is a photo of TW specs. Looks like his PW is 49* then straight to 56*.

I don't know 100% ,but it looks like the wide sole wedge with a blunt leading edge so it won't dig. Sole looks wider than the dual sole. From the pics at least.

Just picked up a 54TS and it's awesome out of the bunker. I'm still getting used to it for chipping and pitching but overall it's very nice. I'm definitely looking to pick up a 60DS for those tight greenside rough/bunker shots.

Still looking for a 60 square. I play 3/4 shots 60y, half shots 40y, and use the 60 in my SV tour all around the green/bunkers etc with no complaints what so ever. If the TS is going to impact 3/4-full shots I'd rather pick up a square then.

I think I may have to pick up another set of engages before the end of the season. Plenty of life left as my engages are my backups but I really love them. By far the best off the shelf wedge I've ever played! Only problem is the limited grinds available in left handed.

I would like to try this as well. Watching old YouTube videos from Tiger, he was hitting his 60 at 100 yards. I had all my wedges PW-LW made the same length but it looks like Tiger goes 9-LW from his specs.

I have a 60 TS and it's a great flop shot wedge but chips or any kind of large swing does not feel right. Thinking about trying the 60 in DS first because 1/2, 3/4, full shots and chips with my 56 DS works great.
