Edmonton - Blair Oko, good instructor?

Hi All,

 

Have any fellow Edmontonians has lessons from Blair Oko at his golf academy? looking for an instructor and i know he has built a fairly nice training facility, but does any one have any experience on how he is as a instructor?

Many years ago just after I started playing and had no idea what I was doing I did a single group lesson with him. It was over my head so I can't make a lot of comments on what his philosophies are now. I can say he seemed like a nice fellow. I remember that his prices stood out to me as a little pricey compared to anything you would find at the course.

The challenge I find with instruction around here is all the pros are gypsy's. Here one season gone the next. Makes it really hard to find continuity. If you do find someone you like could you let me know?

I went to Blair for a year and really liked his personality and such, but I don't think he ever had a plan for me per say. I didn't improve that winter probably seen him 8 times. All that said I didn't have a place to practice and everything was just trying to repeat his motions indoors.

The following year I went to a place called the golf den in edmonton and it was by far a better practice area and he seemed to have a plan for me from day one. I did have a practice area in my garage by this time so that would have played some part for sure. I would say the Golf Den is a better set up and atmosphere though and would highly recommend it.
