Gn Cabo?

Heading to Cabo in two weeks for 3 days of golf. Plan right now is Quivira 1st and 3rd day...looking for a course in the middle. Thinking Cabo del Sol. Can't decide Ocean or desert. Maybe desert as Quivira is on the Ocean.

Has anyone played Quivira...comments? We got a good rate of 207 as we are staying at the PB resort.

Good plan? Or anyone have a better idea?

Looking forward to it...as we are tired of playing in covered carts with layers of clothes!!

I know some courses are still closed due to the hurricane last fall. That was the main reason I ended up going to Puerto Vallarta last week. Suggest you call the course before committing to a round.

Also, I didn't get much response in the Mexico forum, it doesn't seem to be as active as some others...

Quivira is the most incredible golf courses I have ever played. It has both amazing views, amazing and challenging layout, and incredible service (including food and drink included). Cabo Del Sol Ocean is in the top 10 for sure. I have never played Diamante down there but it is supposed to be incredible as well, though semi-private. We played Quivira for free by taking a 45 minute tour (not a timeshare presentation, though we expected one) of Copala. This was the week after Thanksgiving.

I was down in early December and played Cabo del Sol and Puerto Los Cabos. No damage at either, except if you look at some of the surrounding houses (and the PLC clubhouse) PLC was a great deal as it included booze and food, CDS (Ocean) was pricey but stunning, and obviously worth the cost for one of the top courses in the world.

Headed back March 2-10 and set to play Diamante (after sitting through the timeshare presentation.. hopefully with a drink) and Quivira; then trying to decide between Campestre, Cabo Real and Cabo San Lucas CC. Palmilla is still closed as far as I know.

Advice would be great - as would playing partners if anyone will be down around that time and doesn't take things too seriously (I'm a single digit, but having fun is more important to me than my score)

Just got back and couldn't agree more. I have played a ton of nice resort courses..all of the Maui courses...several biggies in Fla and Az....Pebble, Spyglass...several in the Caribbean and his course had me in total awe.

Played it twice ...playing Puerto Los Cabos in between. Not even in the same class.

It would worth the pain of sitting thru a presentation in a minute...although we were staying there and didn't have to.

We're headed down in October and starting to look at where we want to play and Quivara is at the top.

As i understand it if you're not staying there you've got to do a tour/presentation thing. How do you go about scheduling all this?

We were down in March and originally had planned to stay at one of the Pueblo Bonito resorts because they have an arrangement with Quivira. Cancelled the PB resort and stayed elsewhere. Was then told no way could we play Quivira. Even tried my 30+ yrs in the golf industry and they said no. Then tried to do it through a golf media friend and was told if you write for a golf publication, they'll let you on. So right now, I don't know any other way than to stay at one of the PB resorts or be a travel writer. Got to be some other options, I have to believe.

Diamante and Querencia are the tracks where you have to go through a sales presentation to be able to get on because they're private and built to sell real estate around the courses.

Probably will make it a point to stay at a PB resort next time down because everyone who's played Quivira seems to rave on about it, if for no other reason than those spectacular coastal holes. Lots of other courses down there which are very nice and enjoyable though.
