The only major issue with the XXIO clubs from hitting them seems to be the shaft selection. Talk about lightweight shafts!! If you get past that hurdle, you hit the big wall in front of you: the price. $800 drivers don't sit well with most players unless there are a TON of shaft options included for free.

Great pics. Probably the best looking drivers and fairways I've seen yet. I'll definitely be looking to demo those this year.

Srixon makes some great stuff. I read somewhere that the 949 won't be available in the US. Is that true?

What cracks me up about the pictures though is the woman at the end.

"Boy, it is cold out today! I better put on [s]some pants[/s] a jacket!"

may be the first person ever to wish a woman was in pants instead of a skirt.

The z irons remind me of the Bridgestone j40 line.

Z945's are available in the US, but I have only seen them in high end shops (i.e. custom club builders) and not in golfsmith/PGA Superstore/etc.
That's great to hear. I spoke with srixon and they told me the 945 irons and driver, plus the tour FWs and hybrids would not be available in NA EVEN as a custom order.

Makes way more sense to me to have them available but obviously custom due to scarcity of demand.

The PGA Superstore in Irvine, Ca. has the XXIO clubs ... well, most. I haven't seen the hybrids yet or the forged irons, but pretty much everything else. I would think that shops should start getting demo models in soon if not already on the floor.

That Z945 head was in my hand back in late September at one of those special custom shops and all I could do was drool. No luck in swinging one as they didn't have any made up ... just pretty heads sitting next to Muira and other "exotic" heads. Pity there will be so few that no demos seem to exist as I would LOVE to hit one against the Z745 to see what, if anything, is different in distance/control.

The more I look at those XXIO forgings, the more I like them. They appear to be exactly what I look for in an iron: thin topline, thin sole, a little offset, forged midsize head. However, I read that a set of 8 irons could run in the $1500-1800 range. Is this true?

Lofts are jacked up as well: http://www.tourspecgolf.com/blog/xxio-2015-forged-iron/

The lofts alone make then one club longer than my X Hot Pro's.

I bought the z945 irons off rakuten. They are easily as awesome as they look.
I highly recommend yall buy them....although it was a huge risk having never hit them but i can assure yall they are spectacular...
I bought the u 2 and 3 hybrids as well from rakuten...they have every shaft option from modus to kbs...but do not expect to change anything.
All communicae was in japanese and i had no opportunity to alter or change anything after the initial order.

 • 2 weeks later...

I visited the Srixon-Cleveland tent at the (indoor) St. Louis Golf Expo this weekend. The S-C tent rep says that Cleveland will remain its own brand, and cater to recreational golfers; Srixon will focus on the competitive golfers, worldwide.

Got to try the SRIXON Z545 irons this weekend at the St. Louis Golf Expo. The intact iron set had DG S300 shafts (heavier and slightly stiffer than I normally use). The 7i flew quite well, and had a good feel to it. The 4i launched OK as long as I took a full, smooth swing, but I would opt for a different shaft if I got them.

In warmer weather, I would like to try the Z irons on normal turf to see how the Tour VT sole (separate front and back bounce angles, outlined below in red) actually plays out.

The rep also had Z745 (Players) and Z545 (GI) 6i heads with a few screw-on test shafts.

I didn't hear anything definitive on which brand would emerge as "wedge king."
