Tried the MTB-X today.  Only missed 2 fairways and made more putts.  Could be a coincidence but will give them a longer test.

Used my last MTB Black today. Just need to get rid of my -ProV1X and my next 4 dozen BXS and BX. I'll be back hopefully in time for the new stuff to get released by Snell.

Like you, I need to work my way through a few dozen Chrome Soft so I can go back to the Snell balls. I'm almost happy when I lose one on my CS these days!  🤣

They are out of the Yellow MTB-Black as well. Bummed, thats OK, lets hope next month that its back in stock...

The last couple times I’ve tried to buy the yellow mtb-x it was out of stock.  I had to go back to the yellow prov1x.

My season is about over but I thought I would have my wife order a dozen yellow's for Christmas but they are out of stock.  No problem, spring is just around the corner.

I played at least one more round with the MTB Black.  I will be getting a few holes in this afternoon, and weekend as well.

 

In almost every aspect, it's playing very similar to the Pro V1.  I can't detect any real noteworthy differences, based on the small sample size, and variety of conditions so far.  If anything, it seems like it may be spinning a touch less, based on shots with driver, and it's performance in the wind.

Great news, I'll be placing an order. Seems like there's a ton of interest in the yellow MTB-X balls -- hopefully production challenges improve enough to ramp up the supply of them in the months ahead!

So I was doing more testing on the Snell MTB-Black to see if that was my ball or the MTB-X, the Black did not fare well...

 

 

Ball was perfect at the start since I inspect my balls before the game. Granted I clipped like 3 trees in the early 2 holes and no cart path but this was the skin at around the 10th tee when I asked my playing bud to look at it to see if was damaged or not.

 

The was more discoloration on the the other side of the ball. Since it was not a tourny round I played the rest of the round with this same ball, nothing changed, flight seemed good and all but the skin is still what it is.

 

I've played the MTB-X since March 2019 and every single on the X balls are still amazingly good. I lost more X balls than I have ever seen any of it's cover damaged.

 

Anyway, I think I may lean X at this time. Durability is a big thing for me (which why I LOVED the XV balls until recently) but I can forgo the softer Black with a firmer X if the X ball is more durable. Well, appears to be for me.

 

ps the XV 6 would show the lines but I don't think I recall it's cover cracking like this. May be scuffed a little and I have an XV 6 balls with 5 rounds on it. I think the fact that I did not expect this in the Black ball was news to me... Ugh. Me bad. Avoid trees.

I'm continuing to be impressed by the MTB Black.  I'm finding it comparable to the Pro V1 in pretty much every way.  I still suspect it's spinning slightly less for me than the Pro V1.

I have not played the MTB Black other than the sample pack from early spring.  I chose the MTB-X for most of my spring play....in yellow.

 

love the yellow on the X but if there was any negative it was the paint.  it scuffed more quickly than any white ball i had played in recent memory.  i don't care that much about scuffs so it didn't bother me, but if that does, id suggest sticking to white and not the yellow.  i do not know if the Black being softer would be more susceptible to scuffing/cracking.  

 

i am looking to put the MTB Black in play moving forward.  want to give it a go and see how it works for my game.

I can confirm like our fellow wxr's that the yellow MTB-X, which is what I play, seems to have durability issues compared to the white covers IMO.  They scuff easier, especially around cart paths and trees, lol.  I overlook that as the ball flat out performs for me.

Crack in the cover. I could feel it "peel" with my fingernail. The white that you see is the paint coming off the cover.
