Me too....I love the Black.  I went to order some more about 3 weeks ago but they were out.  I have been wanting to try the X so I bought 2 dozen, figuring it might be a good time to try them, but I'll definitely order more of the Blacks when the yellows are back in stock.  If I don't like the X, I'll just order some the white covered Blacks now that they are back in stock.

Totally agree. That ball is butter. Does everything you could ask. I love hitting a mid or short iron into a green with it. Right after the ball leaves the club I'll often say, "there it is" long before it lands. Haha...

How do you compre TM TR to ProV1?

Oh boy. That's a loaded question. I see a debate starting soon.

Tour Response is a VERY good ball. ProV1, as we know, as a VERY good ball. But, as you all know, MTB Black / X, are VERy good balls. You can't miss with any of those choices.

For me, though, MTB all day and every day strictly talking on performance.

I think they were trying to get iotems take on how they feel about the comparison... what does iotem feel about the TR vs ProV1. With out that test, it's hard to say how they feel/compare, because it's subjective. 🙂

Their cover durability is also, bar none, the most resilient to any kind of ball I've played.

Heck, a couple scuffs, tree, rocks, didn't affect it. Longest I've been able to play one is 71 holes in a row, before losing it in water (from a bad wedge shot, miscalculating how high it was sitting up in the rough, went 40 yds instead of 100 yds, so I know that wasn't the ball).  😉

I didn't notice any kind of change it the characteristics, but I'm also not a single digit capper... yet. 😉

Agree.  I game the MTB-X and they are durable.  I was gifted the Z-Star recently and that is the only ball that beats the MTB line in durability which says a lot.  I'm a single cap, but when my driving is off, I can hit a lot of trees.  Scuff marks are rare and at the most, there's a blemish with tree bark on the cover.

I just lost a Snell MTB-X that lasted 3 rounds and 15 holes. I was only 5 over at the time, and in my normal choke fashion, did a pull hook at the worst possible time and she was finally gone. Barely had a scratch on it, lots of sand shots, hit a few trees in those 3 rounds. What an amazing ball.

If you are asking whether you should be concerned about buying a large amount of balls and having ones you haven't used yet deteriorate over time, I would say no unless you are storing them in really bad conditions or for many, many, many years.  There are many threads here on that topic though.

I just picked up a dozen of the sample pack.  I'll do some testing this coming week at the practice pitching green and maybe some testing on the course some evening.  I have been playing the Taylormade Tour Preferred ball (2016 model) since 2016.  I am down to my last dozen to 15.  I did pick up a bunch of 2020 Taylormade TP5 practice balls to move into after the 2016 Tour Preferred balls are gone.  However, if the Snell ball works as well then I might make a switch.  I don't switch balls too often, as we can see.  Putting in my home office both the MTB Black and MTB-X feel decent.  The MTB-X are not as clicky as the ProV1-X and the Tour Preferred X/TP5-X.  Making a switch will be determined on full shot flight, ability to work the ball, short iron spin, short game spin control, putting.  Who knows?

Agree with this 100% found it to play very similar to my typical PROV1x or TP5x but more durable. Even a little longer off the tee

Did Snell drop their free shipping?  If so that’s very disappointing and takes away some of their value vs other options

I looked at ordering some today and there were shipping costs. Although still very cheap in comparison I am holding out until you can order more than 2 dozen because of the shipping charges

Just ordered a test pak of them, to try along side the Pro V1x's I got as well.

With new clubs coming(whenever that may be), I am ditching ALL balls currently in my bag since they are old(have a few pro V1's and Callaway's from probably 10 years ago and a bunch of found balls). Putting in the new Pro V1x's, the Snell test pak and some Kirkland Signatures(for the yep, gonna lose a ball here, holes).

Ordered with Snell before and never had any issues. Most recent order FedEx took multiple “out for delivery” days before actually delivering. The package never arrived though even though it says delivered. I figured I’d give it a few days before following up with Snell directly to see if they show up. Anyone have any experience with this?

Have to be careful with Fedex these days. In my area, they are lazy. UPS and Amazon walk up my driveway and put it either by my garage or front door. Fedex just dumps packages at the base of my mailbox, at the end of the driveway and calls it a day, leaving it right out next to the road(for easy stealing). I always have to monitor the delivery and make sure it doesn't sit there too long.

Well no problems getting the Test Pak today. The Fedex driver, to my amazement, even managed to walk up my driveway and put them next to my front door.

Now to get out on the course and test these.

They just got delivered. Pretty impressive considering I ordered them Thursday. I have a SkyTrak at the house so I’ll try to get some comparisons in a bit.

It would take a lot to kick the BX out of my bag.
