Golf Club Soul mates. Or the "You are my Density" struggle.

Firt off, it's been all snow, over and over again here in the Northeast so I'm sharing thoughts I normally wouldn't.

For instance: I recently spent a good deal of time trying irons. I'm relatively new to the game at 60 years old and dropped my index from about a gazillion to around 10. So after a fitting and trackman and many, many demos I arrive at Cally X2hots with recoil shafts. I play 6-Gap irons so it was a short set. Decent improvement over my 2.0 Burners. Played them most of last summer. No issues. Felt great. As it happens, a friend who occasionally joins my foursome shows up with Cobra S9 irons. Circa 2006. I know zip about these but we switch one day while warmng up on the range. WTF!. I'm hitting these like we were old friends.

You know where this is going.

So I buy a set of S9s on the Bay for nothing, just to have a better go at 'em and now I'm confused. I hit them great. I hit my Callys great, too, but it's like these old Cobras just fit me like an old glove. They are very different clubs. I've yet to take the two sets to an indoor range with trackman (nest week) but Its not about what the machine tells me. It's about "feel".

Am I alone, here? It's as if I was engaged to the Callys and now I'm calling off the wedding. And who knows if it might happen again?

Cant explain it. My initial fitting included many configurations. Ping G25, XTDs, Bafflers, JPX EZs, AP1s in multiple shafts. It's not like I didn't date a few before deciding on the X2hots.

So, I'm going away to Palm Springs in a month with an emphasis on golf. Who do I bring to the dance? Is there room for two irons sets in my life? Anyone else have these problems?

It happens. I know a number of golfers who have found that something a bit older produces better results. No reason to figure out why, simply go with what works and feels best for your game.

I brought back into the fold as an experiment the Mizuno mp-001 400cc driver....outperformed my SLDR. .....gives me huge amounts of confidence to order the FLEX!
