Beautiful putter Baz in great original condition! :-)

Rob

Cheers Rob. Appreciated. And as I mention in the other thread, I've taken an oily rag to it and buffed her up. Most of the rusty spots are gone. Just need to keep the silicon up to her and she's looking really nice and shiny, dark and yet moody.

Looks like a new avatar pic is in order baz.

A handsome beauty.

You know what PD, I never thought of that :D

Done!

While we are talking sexy putters, I never did put this one in here.

Another 8802-ish style, and try as I might I can find virtually nothing about it.

It certainly fits the bill for being in this thread though.

SwingPro Ryoma L-1 Forged. Enjoy.

I looked it up on some Japanese sites. A couple of them mentioned Ryoma L-1 that came with a really soft shaft, which was apparently designed to help golfers slow their putting stroke down and putt more smoothly. Does it have a soft shaft?

Thanks NCN. The shaft doesn't appear to be particularly soft although I'm no expert. It says Apollo on it and is stepped from about 10inches up from the head. A little unusual in that it has a ferrule on it. <edit> only putters I've seen with a ferrule are old Spalding TPM's.

But the head on this putter is gorgeous.

This one is very rare. The 'Art of Putting' line were Oil Cans except for a small handful he done in Black Oxide. You can tell this one was done special by the spectacular milling which I love. She still has the grip in plastic :-)

Rob

Rob, you must have one very spectacular collection of putters. How many you reckon you've got in total?

Really sweet Rob. To bad Scotty doesn't make putters like this retail anymore.

That’s beautiful. Hard not to love the AOP Cameron’s

I agree Kramer. Check out the milling on this beauty - GIP AOP Oval Track Newport.

There are many of us feel the same way Larry. His putters these days are obviously popular and successful, but for me - I will always prefer the 'old school' stuff. Always good to hear from you my friend. :-)

This one is special. The Pre-Titleist Classic 1 as used by Bernhard Langer to win the Masters is the putter that put Scotty Cameron on the map. This is a very rare version of it in a carbon steel with a 'Black Star' nickel finish. It is the 'Art of Putting' version and is the only non garage putter to have the crown on the face. Shigeki Maruyama won many tournements using one of these and they were very popular - but extremely hard to get - in Japan. It has the original Danny Edwards Royal Grip and graphite Brunswick shaft. :-)

Rob, sure you already shared this info but to feed my curiosity, how many putters do you owe and which one is your favourite and which is your gamer?

I think we need to have top secret clearance for that inquiry but guessing he is the King and all his children are favorites.

I think if I were Rob I'd be playing every round as if it were a 2-club-only-round.

But with a 7 iron and 13 putters :D

Thank you very much for the kind words you blokes!

Marco - I don't 'owe' any putters mate, I have paid for them all ha ha.

Larry is correct in that I am like an under 10's football coach with my putters - every kid gets a run and if they do well they are back next week!

To be perfectly honest, you would probably be surprised at my most used gamers. I use a Cameron Button Back in summer, in winter the leather grip is too smooth and slippery in cold weather and I don't get enough feel in my hands. A lot of the other time I use an old Byron 365g x-proto because our greens can be slow (hard to cut them short here in summer because they burn out if you are not careful) and a Tad Moore Pro 1 LN - it sets up great and I love the washboard face. I am also partial to the 343g original Bettinardi BC1. I know people deride the idea of feel with a putter, but honestly, when you stroke the ball with the old Bettinardi Carbon - you can barely feel it, just beautiful feedback.

Of course, I also sometimes play the beautiful hand mades I have - especially the Mills ones and I can use a different Scotty every week if I want and not run out for a few years ha ha.

I am looking forward to a bunch of Byrons B17's appearing in this thread soon from other members. I have seen a couple and they looked unreal! :-)
