I still can't find anything to beat my i25. I even love my G25 and while the carry may be 10-15 yards difference between the two, the trajectory is not.

G25 in wet conditions, i25 in everything else.

I have a link in another thread with me swinging my i25. I just love that club!
Have you tried the LS? It VERY definately chews into the difference between a G25 and I25.
Why would I spend $500 on a drive thats going to be minimally different from what I already own?
Well the topic at hand is the G30LS and you said you still can't find anything to beat the I25. I figured you'd tried with the G30LS but apparently not.

For all you know they could be awash or either the LS or I25 slightly better.

Got final fitting today... G30 LS with DI6 at 9.6 is on the team!

Tried them all and the only thing that came close was Big Bertha Double Black Diamond with PX LZ Hand Made shaft... One heck of a name! Lol

Anyhow, the G30 forgiveness made it no contest... But BB DBD felt and sounded MUCH better.

I love that on WRX everyone is finding this driver to be so great, but yet almost 95% of Ping Staffers still game their G30. I wonder why that is?

The G30 also enjoyed prolific popularity in here.

I played my first round with LS head coming from loving the reg G30 head. Tour 65 stiff shaft. Now I changed from a fade to draw recently over the winter. I defiantly missed some by over cooking the draw (right handed swimg) but it was 24 degree with 25 mph wind.

I forgot tool so I played LS head at highest loft. It's 9 degree and usually play it stock setting. With the LS head I wasn't having ball balloon into the wind. I could control trajectory easily which is usually hard for me. Absolutely a must have driver if your backspin numbers are high like mine. Forgiveness is excellent and distance exceptional.

Went to the Galaxy with the intentions of pulling the trigger on the G30. After firming up the specs on the monitor I ended up with the 9* LS with xstiff Tour 65 shaft.

Needless to say, this driver is an absolute cannon. Really, really impressed with it. The LS does exactly as advertised, it'll take about 400-500rpms off your numbers.

Just an assumption but the staffers have the ability to tweak a G30 head and have an unlimited selection of shafts, whereas the general public has to grab something off of the rack.

Also, think of the average golfer and their swings. They most often than not are hitting down on the ball and creating a ballooning affect and that turns your average golfer who is a golf forum addict a "high spin, high launch" player. LOL!

Did your girl leave you for a G30ls or something?

Every OEM has a low spin version of their 'flagship' model, what's wrong with ping joining in on the fun? D3, DBD, Nike Pro/Flex, 430 models, etc, etc

I don't think I'm being negative at all. 1/5 sales have been for the LST, and since August 15 the G30 has been the number 1 selling driver worldwide. It's just that on WRX where 4/5 are going with the LST, which I find amusing, and 9/10 pros are still using the stock G30.

The lst has only been out for a month, and most people are just now getting out of winter to go to a fitting. I think rather than bother with trying every shaft and messing with hot melt most fitters are opting to fit people with higher spin into the lst. As for the pros they have a trailer that will make their g30 spin to an exact number based on getting any shaft they desire as well as having Ping club techs hot melt and add weight exactly where they need it. I would also guess the tour van has all manner of weight plugs not available to us hacks. I bet you would find most of the tour players heads in g30 are lower spinning than lst based on tour van mods.

Anyone hitting the 80g version of the Ping Tour Spec shaft?

I know the specs state that it is under 80 but interested to see if anyone thinks it feels too heavy/stout, especially coming from playing a 74g shaft

I tried both at my fitting (outdoors with flightscope) and the maindifference for me was 80 had smoother transition and tip flet more stable at impact. It did not feel boardy or much stiffer over the 65. Also my ss did not drop between the two and the weight on it is 75g. I think the 80 is also tipped and inch where the 65 is not.

Exactly. You can't compare the general public's driver to tour pros getting any shaft/hotmelt/lie angle/etc from the tour van or WRX department in Phoenix. You could take some spin off a g30 by getting the LS head and a shaft fit for you. But a pro with the WRX department at their personal disposal could get a g30 regular head and completely change it compare to an off the rack head.

I picked up a 80 in Stiff, tipped it another .5" and butt trimmed to a finished length of 44.5"... Haven't looked back!

I think the shafts are made by UST for ping I believe they are above average quality for an OEM shaft.

Just picked up mine from my club builder had the Rogue 125 installed at 44.5" and hot melted to D3. Hit 5 frozen ropes into the field in my backyard, bumped up the loft to the big + position and hit 5 more. It's perfect confidence is high for the 2015 season. If you have a negative angle of attack like me you need to try the LS TEC.

When I check out the Pros playing the g30 seems like many more Europeans are playing the G30 LS than North Americans. Also many pros hit the ball very consistantly on the screws which lowers the spin. When I nailed my G25 my spin numbers were great but that was about one in 10 drives, where the LS is giving me around 8 out of 10 with low spin numbers.

I have a regular G30 and I'm looking forward to trying the LS tec just to see how they compare. Doesn't seem the PGA tour players are spinning their drivers any lower than folks around here though. In fact, if you believe trackman, it's the opposite. I read the following on a very reputable site:

"The general rule of thumb is: the lower your clubhead speed and ball speed, the higher you need to launch the ball, and with more spin; and vice versa. According to Trackman, the average PGA TOUR player has a vertical launch angle of 11.2 degrees, and a spin rate of 2,685 rpm."

I was surprised to see that as I assumed that they were all shooting for the 1800-2200 number that we all seem to be chasing around here.

I agree.

I love hitting the G25. its just so perfectly balanced for me with the Ahina stiff shaft.

However, if you get the slightest bit wristy with it, the ball pops straight up in the air. I can lose 20-30 yards with a mis hit like that.

The i25 is still the best club Ping has made recently IMO. I like how cleanly the G30 releases through the ball, but its not nearly as long as my i25. Its slightly longer than my G25 by a few yards maybe. Much more forgiving, but the G30 was simply not a compelling buy for me with the tour green shaft or whatever it was. It was a $500 setup, and the club was clearly not $500 better than either my G25 or i25 (I also own an Anser).
