What's your wedge loft combo?

Hit em good

Recommended Posts

45, 50, 56, 60 for me. Due to the change in lofts i carry 4-uw in my irons and it's like the old 3-pw sets so I only really see my 50, 56 and 60 as my wedges. Only use my pw if I want plenty of run

Currently have 45*PW , 50, 54, 56, 60

Usually leave the 54 or 56 out of the bag. Have been using the 56 for a while but that's about 95 yards max for me. I think I'm going to swap it with the 54 to see if I can get dialed in on those 100 yard shots better with a 3/4 54 wedge instead of trying to muscle a 56 or knock down a 50*...We shall see. I'm great with flopping my 60 so it stays....

I'm thinking about going PW(47*), 50*, 56*, 60* this year. Last year I felt like my 115-60yd game was a weak point and I struggled with distance control. I was using pw, 54*, and 58* and the gaps in yardages were not good. This year I plan to tighten those up with an extra wedge and make my 130yd and in game my focus on the range.

3 wedge game helps me become familiar with each club

But, our course pro uses 6 wedges because he says he plays many more shots under 150 yds. He's trying to get me to go to a 46 PW and get a 50 degree. Here's his setup (which made me chuckle until I played with him and saw a him shoot a 62 (-10))

Driver 9.5, 3 wood 15, 2 iron 18, 4 iron 24, 6 iron 30, 7 iron 34, 8 iron 38, 9 iron 42, PW 47, AW 52, SW 56, LW1 60, LW2 64, and Putter.
Looking at his set I asked how far do you hit your driver? His response was, "As far as I need to."
What blows my mind wasn't the 365 yard drive on #5 (measured with laser), it was the imagination he had shooting for every pin. He manipulates wedges with the loft on the club. They are all basically full grind clubs except the 60-M and 64-T. His clubs are free from Titleist (He's sponsored).[/quote]

I'm going to agree with him in this (though I'm definitely not keeping up with him off the tee). I had my irons re-gapped so I could add another wedge. My current setup is 46-52-58-64. For me that's 138-125-108-90.

I'm surprised so many would rather play half shots as opposed to making a fuller swing. Then again, I've seen plenty of single digit handicaps play with only a 56* beyond their PW. At the end of the day it's whatever gaps you need to fill and whatever makes your scores lower!

I'm a wedge freak. I tried and owned just about all the wedges I can get my hands on.
I used to carry 4 wedges at one point but one hardly get used so now I carry 3. Wedges has to be very versatile and sole/bounce is also very important.

PW 52 and 58.

I've been re-configuring my whole setup, so I'm all over the place at the moment. I've gone 46/50/56/60, 46/52/56/60, and 46/50/54/58. I like the idea of simplifying by going 46/52/58, and I do like hitting partial shots.

Slight derail: for those of you who carry 50/54/58, which club do you primarily use out of the sand, 54 or 58?

I replaced my Mb pw this season with a 46 vokey so it looks like this now

46,54,58

I found with the vokey pw I could control the gap between the 54 pretty easily so this gave me the option to eliminate a wedge and add a 3 wood this year. I personally found that bagging four wedges got me thinking to much about shots that I shouldn't even be thinking about playing like hitting knockdown 52 and half swing 56's. So now anything between 120-145 I use my 46 vokey and I don't regret it one bit.

46/50/56/60

PW is used for approach shots, sometimes chips. GW is what i used mostly around the green and for approaches 105 yds in. SW mostly from the sand, though for chips from the rough that require a little more finesse. LW for flop shots, bunker shots where I need a high trajectory, and delicate chips that require little roll.

For me, it's important to have a medium/high bounce sand wedge and a low bounce lob wedge.

PW - 47
SW - 54/10
Lob - 60/06

Not too concerned about distances when it comes to wedges, more concerned about how they perform around the greens/bunkers.

46 - basically a 10 iron; sees no use around the green

50 and 54 - two different bounces and sole grinds.

58 - almost exclusively a bunker club.

I could easily go 46-52-56 or 46-54-58 and lose little to nothing but I have no long club gaps so there is no reason for me to switch.

I go 46, 52, and 58. I've done 4 wedges before but it didn't improve anything so I went back to 3 and I'm never leaving. I have everything from 140 and in covered.

48, 54, 60.

I have had 3° gaps in my wedges (for full shot yardage gapping) and now have 6°. The main reason is that I moved back a set of tees and I now have more approach shots from >130 as opposed to <130.

My 54 gets used on almost all partial shots as well as all "normal" greenside shots. The 60 is a specialty club. Bunkers and shortsided shots out of rough are about the only use is gets.
