Adjustable vs glued hosels

Hey guys just looking to see who likes what

Myself I really don't like the whole adjustable options I agree with fitting but opt for the glued heads

Example I just got into a new hybrid and went with the i20 ping put I the proper shaft and length. I just like the clean look of glued hosels but like the the newer tech in the woods

So for drivers like the rbz glued version etc (all though I don't have one of those)

What are your likes??

PING has done a great job with their adjustable hosels. From address they look just like a regular bonded head with a ferrule.

Personally, I like an adjustable driver and bonded fairway woods and hybrids.

I am torn on this myself. I have always thought the adjustable drivers were a good way of dialing in your swing but the majority of us do not have a consistent swing.

The glued hosels always seemed to feel better for me. Plus I really never changed the settings.

But recently, my swing was off. I was hooking like a $2 dollar ho. I changed the setting on my Mizuno to fade and sure enough, it helped. So now I am thinking they might just be a good thing.

If I played all my golf at home, I would possibly opt for a glued hosel. I say this primarily because the climate and course conditions are pretty much the same and I would never have to put them on a plane and have them handled by the baggage personnel.

HOWEVER, I only play about 20% of my 100+ rounds a year at home and travel extensively by plane. Having adjustable hosels allows me to remove the heads when they go in the luggage bin (I also have a stiff-arm), and adjust for trajectory depending on the type of course I'm playing. Also, if I'm playing a course that will require more subtle wedge play, I can go from my typical 4 wood / 2 wedge setup to a 3 wood /3 wedge setup with a turn of the wrench.

I guess I just like the versatility it offers.

Adjustable hotels are great for changing shafts.

But, in terms of use, I typically set once and forget. I used to use them as a crutch and blame my poor swing on them ... "maybe if I change the lie angle, I'd have hit it better"

The bonded ones take that indecision out of it.

I haven't found adjustable hosels make that much difference to my ball flight, I subscribe to Wishon's theory that we adjust the change out by accident.

That being said, my last three drivers were adjustable and after a very short time I don't notice it.

I read wishons article on how adjustability is great but you need to position the club at address the exactly same way or the effects won't happen correctly
I just think a proper fitting based on s large sample size and then just epoxy and forget
I see so many people adjust every round instead of fixing a small issue with their swing that day even in our fun games they readjust 2-3 times mid round it's crazy!

One benefit to adjustable hosels is that they add about 5 grams of weight to the head.. For example, now Ping is able to offer custom shorter length drivers at reasonable swing weight.

Yonex ezone 380 10* Rexis M-1 shaft
Cleveland Mashie hybrid 15.5* Miyazaki
Cleveland Mashie hybrid 20.5* Miyazaki
Ping S56 4-9 Nippon 950 steel shaft
Ping Gorge 47*, 52* ,56* Nippon 950
KZG 100% milled center shaft putter

Yes. Great point on swapping shafts. Really makes it a great fitting tool. Though if you properly fit the bonded club it doesn't matter. But come time to purchase or sell used having the ability to easily pair another shaft is a plus for adjustability. If you don't mind the look of an adjustable hosel I don't think there are any noticeable performance downsides at least none that I can perceive.

I am not a fan of the adjustable clubs. If you are fit properly, there is no need to ever adjust that club. The "Big" manufacturers have brainwashed consumers so they only have to make one club that 'supposedly' can be a one size fits all solution. Besides, if you sole the club at address rather than squaring the head, you haven't adjusted anything (search how loft is measured...loft is loft, it doesn't change unless you are changing the established rules of how loft is measured). If anything is 'snake oil', it is the adjustable hossel clubs. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION

I think if you look at the industry as a whole, the adjustable stuff can be great for players, but really once you get it set the way that works, you shouldn't have to change it...unless course conditions dictate and you have a swing which is repeatable enough to get some benefit out of this -

I think what people seem to forget is how nice adjustable heads are for the OEM's...How many fewer SKUs need to be inventoried?

I have a Ping Anser and G25. Cannot remember when I changed the settings. Does allow you to change/try new shafts. I don't do that either. To happy I guess. Another thing with Ping, ( not advertising just clubs I know) they will find you an open/square/closed face and close to exact loft. So, as others have said, set and forget it once you have it right.
