What Did You Shoot Today? (Continuation)

I have a big problem finishing rounds. Was bogey free -3 through 6 on Saturday and shot +2. I was also birdie free -3 through 7 on Sunday and shot +2. Last week I played the AZ Mid-Am and was +1 through 30 holes and shot +9 after 36 to miss the cut. 72 (E) the first day and 81 (+9) on Saturday to miss the cut. WTF..

Very strange round. Play at a course that keeps the greens fast and true usually. Been raining everyday for 2 weeks so the greens are running about half speed. Here is where is gets strange. Hit every fairway today AND every GIR. Was definitely in the zone. Only shot a 76. 5 bogeys and only 1 birdie. 3 putted all 5 bogeys and every one was a downhill putt that I left at least 6 feet short. Could not convince myself to hit them harder... lol. May never hit 18 GIRs again for the rest of my life.

3 Putt Monster strikes again!

I shot 77 on Saturday. Even on the front (should have been one under but it happens) and flat sucked it up on the back. I was 2 under through 3 holes and didn't make a birdie the rest of the way. Kept leaving the ball in the wrong place and couldn't make a putt to save my life. Also three putted for Par on the 18th....

Shot 78. Had a double hit on chip shot. Haha. Sloppy with short wedges from less than 100 and couldn't get the distance. Hit the ball ok and had a few good swings. However, here is a fun fact: I played with interlock grip the front nine and overlap grip the second nine. Experimenting with the grips to see what is better. Still undecided.

Played my best round of the year as I was invited to play at my former club by a good friend. It's been a year of trmendous inconsistency caused mostly by shiity putting which in turn puts pressure on me to try to hit it close when I shouldnt. I made a major change in my putting, going back to the way I used to putt with my hands much more to the inside and a much flatter lie angle (72* to 68*). That alone has helped me create more solid contact and a much more reliable stroke from shorter distances.

Β

As for the round, I shot 34-36-70 (-2). I hit 10 of 14 fairways and 16 of 18 greens. 16 pars and 2 birdies. I had 33 putts which sounds a little high but I really didnt putt badly. Multiple putts grazed the top edges the entire round.

Β

One last thing. I am a huge college basketball fan and the original foursome was supposed to be a former D-1 Womens Head Coach (my host), a current D-1 Womens Head Coach, and a current D-1 referee. The ref broke a finger a few days before and was replaced by a former D-1 Mens coach. Then one of the others had to bail because of a recruiting certification class. There is some really serious basketball talk the whole time and its awesome. WHat coaches are good guys, what coaches are a*******, etc.

Β

A great round on a beautiful day in Northern Colorado with some really good company. I'm blessed.

63 (-8). I can't describe just how it happened and it may never happen again. I missed fairways, but always had a shot. I missed one green but chipped it to a foot. I sank all but one short putt and seemingly all of my long putts. My previous best low round was even par, which I had posted 7 times.

Β

Waking up today the whole thing feels unreal.

Very well done. Isn't it great when everything goes well like that?

I played my first round in a month due to a lot going on with work and a barn project at my house on weekends. Played with a friend who is a member of a goat track and he rarely play's anywhere else. One positive about the place is very little play and we were finished in 2:30. The greens had recently been verticut and are always shaggy and super slow. I was super pleased to shoot an 83 since putting was impossible. I hit my driver as well as I have lately and my long irons were crisp.

83 yesterday with no help from my driver. Played 3 of the first 9 holes from the wrong fairways. Luckily my miss was consistently right as left was dead on most of those holes.

Β

Overall, I remember 1 good drive (of 10) with the driver and 3 (of 4) with the hybrid. I obviously should have benched the driver at some point.

Β

A little better off the tee and I could have easily been in the 70s.

overall good round. didn't stick as many greens but able to putt really well and holed one off the fringe for a birdie. HDC getting better and better. driving the ball really well with a cut down driver. long irons still need work.
