My back is still a bit jacked from Sunday. Playing this Saturday is likely 50/50 at this point. I'll likely hang close to the city if I do play. 'No sense in driving an hour to play a few holes before packing it in. :cry:

Have not heard that one. Cog is the gem of the Jemsek portfolio and undoubtedly the one with the most value by nature of the facility and number of courses.

I mentioned it few weeks ago. Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Now that they are part of Palos Park, it'll be easier for them to convert couple of the courses into residential.

Yup. They (Lemont and Palos) might still be duking it out in court, but it's an uphill battle for Lemont.

All is well... haven't touched the clubs in 4 weeks - just too busy with work. One of these days... or weeks, I'll get out. The oldest is off to college in couple weeks - gotta pay the bills ???.

I booked 9 holes tomorrow morning at 8:12 am at Marovitz. Hopefully it's early enough in the morning to avoid the death march that the course is known for. Hopefully my back can hack it for 9, or possibly 18, but of not, I'm only 10 minutes from home. I haven't played there in close to 4 years. 'Not expecting great things, but hopefully it's in playable shape.

Was hoping to sneak out this afternoon but it appears the weather will not be my friend. Monday we're heading out to Klein Creek in the morning then we're thinking of St Andrews or something else in the area for an afternoon round. I'd like to get out for a round this weekend as well but nothing is set in stone unfortunately.

Will be interested in hearing the conditions at KC. Fan of the design but they haven't always kept the course in good condition. Sand was rare in bunkers the last time we played there.

Really? I'm a bit surprised. I don't particularly care for course that have OB on 80% of the holes, especially when there's a hazard on the opposite side of the fairway. I would be a decent layout if it wasn't shoehorned into a housing development. Of course, it probably wouldn't have been built without the housing.

I haven't played there since my high school years in the late 90's but I remember really struggling in a couple of the tournaments I had there. I don't remember much about it other than I didn't care for it. It'll be fun to return and give it another go.

HOE tomorrow, showing it off to a buddy in town. A little nervous since I put up a blistering 96 there a couple weeks ago, but been playing good since so hopefully it won't be a re-run.

 

Fired my putter, bought a Golo5, just got it in the mail today. Very excited to try it out tomorrow. Big change going from my 35" blade to a 38" mallet with a counter weight on top of the grip. Should be interesting to say the least.

Did you happen to see a certain professional hockey player who was just named NHL MVP? Couple friends of mine, their kids were there and ran into Kaner and got photos with him. I heard he was picking up the game and really working at it this summer.

I played 2 nines at Marovitz this morning to see if my back could hack it. All is well. A bit tight, but nothing to stop me from playing. The course was OK, with shaggy greens, and comically slow greens. Pace of play was excellent for the course. I made the turn in 2:25, took a short break, and played nine more in 2:40. Given the possibility of a 6 hour round, I'll take it.

 

Off to Glencoe tomorrow.

HOE as well today, course ate me up again. 94, two shots better than the 96 I put up there a few weeks ago. 8 penalty strokes and 39 total putts. Maybe its just me, but I think HOE is the toughest public course in Illinois. I think I've broken 90 out there once.

Toughest? Ooh, that's a tough question. Blackstone has teeth. Big Run can hurt. Seven Bridges is fraught with peril. George Dunne is no pushover.

Ravisloe yesterday. I guess it rained a bunch on the south side because the course was soaking wet. Greens were very slow. Too bad because I love the layout and think it's a great value ($55 walking prime time on weekends). Still was a great day out there.

Assuming I'm able to return from Colorado today

 

Was able to play the club at crested butte, a Robert Trent jones course, at 9000 feet

 

Fun, challenging course nestled up against my crested butte

 

Had a small hailstorm on the front, but it cleared quickly and we were able to finish the round

 

Hole 13 is an awesome par 4 with a tee box elevated some 100 feet about the fairway

 

Fun to see the ball fly!

'Played Glencoe this morning. I don't think I've seen the fairways looking better. The greens looked good, but were a bit spongy and slow. A four hour pace is always nice on a weekend morning.

 

Decent day ball striking, with 11 fairways and 10 greens. The wedges were a bit problematic, though. I was pulling them left all day, and didn't give myself too many reasonable opportunities for birdie. I did manage two, along with 4 scrambles, so it wasn't a bad round. Highlight of the day was birdieing the par 4 13th for the first time. Something about the hole just doesn't suit my eye, and I usually wind up hooking it into the left fairway bunker, or blocking it right into the trees. Today I hit a solid drive, followed by a perfect hybrid to 8 feet. I was leaving a lot of putts short on the slow greens, so I gave this one a good rap and it slammed into the back of the cup.

 

They really should trim the big tree on the right side of the 18th hole. Anyone playing a draw is pretty much blocked out, as the tree has grown a good third of the way into the fairway.

Played Deerpath in Lake Forest for the first time today. Nice, old school type course (tees near greens, greens slope back to front on most holes). I rode today but will likely walk next time. Picked up an old, private club vibe with this course. Lots of kids around (didn't see any playing and more women than I usually see at a course). Shot a splendid five over 40 on the front and then came completely unglued on the back with a 49. Shambolic performance.

 

Side note. Anyone interest in a Game Golf Classic (non Bluetooth) there are three for sale in the pro shop for $49. There were four but I couldn't pass up $49.
