you'll want to play the Links twice, not the woods. Nothing against the Woods, but the Links is the showstopper at the facility. Also, lots of blind shots on the Links which makes replay a lot of fun once you know your way around a bit.

 

 

Hopefully things dry out by then. Got hit with over 8 inches of water last Tuesday night with 3 tornadoes touching down in the county. Woodlands bunkers completely washed out, Links bunkers were flooded but by Sunday they seemed to be mostly ok.

Hopefully the rain stops soon so you're not having to play in mush. I think Wisconsin head gotten even more rain than us here in northern Illinois. Ugh.

The Green Lake area got hit hard with 3 tornadoes last Tuesday. Nearby Brandon and Brownsville had more trees laying flat than standing upright. Saw a 600 cow dairy farm completely leveled. Amazingly, by Wed afternoon the Links was in great shape except for the flooded bunkers. Greens were slower than I've ever seen them and you could even put a ball mark in them from a 50 yard wedge shot which is impossible with normal conditions. Links is built on sand and rock which leads to great drainage.

Friday/Saturday - Makray Memorial for Polish Ryder cup. Chicago vs Canada/Michigan/east coast. Never played there, but should be fun - assuming the damn weather cooperates.

I can tell you it's not Village Links. Like playing through split pea soup, on Tuesday. Good question though. I thought about this question as well - and I couldn't muster a good answer.

 

Honestly with as much rain as we have been getting I don't even know if it matters. I play Ruffled Feathers 2-3 times a week and it has always drained decently. On Tuesday there were lakes that were never there before.

Yeah, I don't really expect anywhere to be off the path. Might be better off just going to a course that is a nice walk. Maybe Ravisloe. (Not west)

I'd say Arrowhead drains quite well

 

I had a friend who played the Preserve yesterday say that the fairways were in good shape, but the greens were a bit slow.

Also, I think one has to look at the regional rainfall.

Can vary quite a bit across the chicago area that we talk about

not much rain since Monday, except for the 1/3 inch that fell yesterday.

 

So courses probably had 48 hours to drain and then 1/3 yesterday.

 

However, I bet a bunch fell in Mt Prospect based on how wet we were after 9 last night.

 

Many of our matches bailed after the minimum required 5 holes because of so much rain.

 

The greens had areas of pooling water.

... My go to course after rain is Naperbrook. Unfortunately their fairways are light rough as opposed to a real fairway and the greens can get pretty chewed up and the front 9 is as generic as a course can get, but as the highest property in Will County it always drains very well. And $19 to walk for a senior makes it a decent choice.

Trackman can do about 100 other things that are even better than smash factor. But for a Golf Galaxy to have one is pretty unique. Is it free to use though or only part of a lesson package?

Of course that’s true, but the fundamental difference that I was noting is the measurement of the clubhead speed (not to mention attack angle, open/closed),

Trackman and a new 90 day guarantee at VH GG, looks like they really want to compete with the PGA SS across the street when it opens, sadly that location will probably close within a year just like Schaumburg and Downers.
