Where are you playing tomorrow - Chicago (Round2)

Last Fall, I asked Ultimate if they could check loft/lie and adjust if needed, and they said they'd need to send the clubs out somewhere and it was usually a 24-36 hour turnaround. I'm not sure if it was the adjusting part that would require that, or if they don't even have the equipment to measure clubs.

FWIW, I ended up taking them to the PGASS in Downers Grove to have them checked and bent back to factory specs as needed. They charged $24.99 for 8 irons. Subsequently, I did a fitting at Club Champion in Willowbrook and asked them to double check a couple of the clubs. They were spot on to factory loft/lie. Also, if you have CC adjust loft/lie, they charge $10 per club.

Have you tried Ultimate golf on Kingery ?

I have not, I've actually not had my lofts and lies done in several years, can't even remember where I did it last so I'm at square one. Always forget about that place. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have never had any issue with PGASS. Everyone I have talked to there has a solid background and knows what they are doing. There is nothing difficult about getting lies and lofts checked and they have all of the equipment.

How much snow do you guys still have around Chicago? We’re trying to get out of Minnesota the 21st-25th for a few rounds since we won’t be seeing grass till May.

No snow, but extremely cold. It's currently 14 degrees with a RealFeel of 0. The long term forecast for the 21st through 25th calls for highs in the low to mid 40's, with morning lows near freezing. 'Not ideal.

Not much actual snow coverage in SW Chitown. With warmer temps just around the corner, It should be gone within the next week.

... It is 80* and sunny with 3 mph winds today in Phoenix, then 83* and 76* the next 2 days of golf but dropping to 63* with 15mh winds Friday for my round at Legend Trail Friday and I was gonna complain about the "cold and wind" but then I read this thread and realize just how spoiled I am. I hope it warms up soon for you Chicago guys!

With 2.5 weeks of above freezing day time temps, you guys think a few places will be open by the end of the month?

There's always a course or two willing to be open even if there's snow on the ground.

Good to know. Something tells me the 4 feet here are too much for our courses to try...

You can probably get on the gem of Chicago, St. Andrews, tomorrow if you called and were willing to give them money. But realistically, I imagine they will definitely be open in this little warm spell coming up as well as a few others.

I decided to sell my P790s and bought some Mizuno MP 18 MMC's this week. I just didn't get along with the short irons on the p790s, I hit my 7 iron 35+ yards longer than my 9. Either the long irons went too far or the short irons didn't go far enough, idk. Could be user error and I just couldn't hit the 8,9,P, which would be a problem in itself. But hit the Mizuno's yesterday morning and loved how they felt.

Hopefully, they are shipped before I go to Palm Springs in a little less than 2 weeks, don't trust USPS to not mess it up. Found a round trip flight for 90 bucks, playing PGA West Stadium, SilverRock, Firecliff and 1 undecided. Never been and the courses look beautiful. Can't wait.

Cof Hill #1&3 are always open. Mr. Jamesek needs his $$$.

I recommend the Mountain course as well at La Quinta. I personally enjoyed it better than the Stadium. I'm also going to be there in a couple of weeks. Will be with my family on Spring break, but going to get several rounds in as a single. Let me know if you want to connect and play.

St. Andrews is always open regardless of there being snow on the ground or not. They're open today if you'd like to get a few holes in before frostbite takes off a few digits.

Honestly, the Stadium Course if probably the lowest on my excitement level. I feel like I should play it while I am out there though. I was actually just looking at the mountain course, looks like a definite option. Thanks for the rec.

I always like to tee it up where the pros play, so the Stadium course or the Nicklaus Tournament courses would be my first choice. Indian Wells isn't bad. The Mountain course has a few very nice holes along the mountain line, but some of the other holes are pretty meh.

Was in Gurnee over the weekend and it was kind of surprising to see snow covering the ground up there still.

I was about to say that I have 6-8 inches in my yard still.

The snow disparity is really noticeable this year. Just little pockets on the ground in the western suburbs...mostly in areas that the sun doesn't hit very well. Then you go up north and there's still 4+ inches on the ground. Either way, it's been so cold this year that the ground thaw is going to take forever. Probably will go from frozen ground to mushy and sloppy for a while.

What the Hades are you southern boys talking about? I have 1 1/2-2' of snow on my Milwaukee golf course. It is loving layered by Mother Nature in snow/ice/more snow/more ice. I suppose it could be worse. They tell me there is 4 feet of snow on my roof at the cabin "up north."

I drive past Schaumburg golf club every day and today there was essentially no trace of snow. Maybe a tiny bit in the bunkers. But pretty clear.

I live on seven bridges.. Fariways and greens are clear of snow, no trace. In laws live in Geneva on Eagle Brook, covered in snow. Crazy the difference from a 25 min drive.

If you bought your clubs from club champion they will do it for free whenever you want. I bought clubs from there 5 years ago and stop in twice a year, never charge me a dime
