BMan if something accidentally happens to the shaft in CL's driver and it breaks, there's $20 it for you or Jim for that matter.

Putting a hit out on a golf shaft to win a bet...think that's a new low.

Think they call that a drive-bye.

Helped my brother out with high school tryouts at Oak Brook today. Was -1 on 16 looking over an eagle putt to go -3, left it in the heart an inch short. Proceeded to muck up the next 2 holes with bogey, double for a 73. So bummed, I was in great shape to break 70 and blew it. Oh well, back at it again tomorrow. BTW, pace was dreadful as expected, greens were worse than I expected as well. Generally Oak Brook has pretty good greens, but these looked like they were beaten up a bit, lots of bumpy rolls.

Great weather for golf yesterday at Village Links. All the money was on the line coming down 18. Jim ended up winning with a bomb on 16 and great save on 18. Although, the course apparently "smelt like an old man had soiled his diaper". :swoon:

Seeing that I wasn't in the group, is the "old man" referenced Adam?

Not an Adam reference, there was a poopy stink in the air. I can't believe I'm the only one who smelled it?

While the scores were higher than we all would've liked, there were some great shots made. Rich is a surgeon around the greens, and Adam overpowered some of the par 5's. My contribution was negotiating twilight rates for all.

I'm sure they gave Gramps the senior rate straight away, right?

Despite the blowup, do you think you'll make the team?

Fingers crossed that a 34 year old can blend in.

Sadly I didn't see a lot of scores under 100, they graduated a lot of good players last year without much talent behind it. There are a few kids who could grow into good players, they're just not there yet.

It's National Left Handers day. I'd just like to bring awareness to hose difficult it is living in a right handed world.

You're having problems with your HOSE? You really are Gramps. Try that little blue pill thingy...

Finally figured out what I'm giving Adam for Christmas...perfect for his push cart.

I actually saw one of these on the course today and had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing with the occupants within earshot.

Did you play with Adam?

OK, I have to praise Gramps for a moment. I'm having some lower back pain and texted him for some pharma advice. He made recommendations that covered narcotic, analgesic and recreational categories while also advising which had the fewest contraindications with red wine.

You can't get that on BOWLINGWRX.com.

Super twilight at Glencoe again tonight after work. Got paired up with a couple college kids who used to play golf for New Trier. We had a really good time. Bogeyed 18 with my only 3 putt for an 80. Highlight of the round was #7, par 3 185 yards downwind. One of the guys hits his 7 iron to one foot. I went with 5 hybrid and it rolled up to 8 inches. I think that's the closest I've come to a hole in one since my actual hole in one 30 years ago.

Gonna finally check out Wilmette tomorrow, fist time playing there since the re-do.

Then I got roped into a 9:30 tee time Saturday at George Dunne. I expect to finish just before the bugs start coming out as the sun is setting.

I got out for an emergency round with a friend at Strawberry Creek. The course was in good shape and the greens were quick. I think its one of those places I could play more frequently if the guest fee wasn't what it is and that whole walking rule they have.

My light driver shaft experience is over. I can't keep that thing on the course to save my life. Even when I think it could be decent, it just sprays the area.

I'll be out of golf for the next couple weeks, at least until my house is put back together.

Bright and early round tomorrow at Whitetail Ridge. Looking at the weather it looks like the winds will be minimal in the morning, every time I go out there it's hurricane force winds so I'm not sure I'll know what to do.
Excited for The Ravines tomorrow :-) Opinions on the course?
I played there on Tuesday. It's in fine shape. You have to take advantage of the first 4 holes, it get a little tougher after that. If you haven't played there before, there're two 4th holes. The original is to the right of the 3rd green. The new one is behind the 3rd green. You can choose either, I prefer the original, but they're both good holes. #5 used to be a par 5, now it's a really long uphill dogleg par 4. Don't skip #7, it's a par 3, down the hill from the 6th green. The 8th tee is the one closer to the 6th green. #9 tee is through the trees to the left of the water fountain, #11 is behind #8 green. #10 is a really hard par 4. Have fun.

Did not enjoy Wilmette at all today. Every approach shot ran through the green, several drives ran off the fairway into bunkers. Got every bad bounce you could possibly get. Stopped keeping score on the back and started picking up on holes I didn't have a shot at a skin. Finished ahead in skins so at least I didn't lose any money. First time all year I didn't register a score. I'll go back soon to try and get a score, but then I won't be coming back for at least two years till the greens break in.

Wilmette almost has to be played like a links course. I try to land shots on the front of the green, as they'll get a solid bounce. #3 is probably the toughest to hold.

Brutal death march at Whitetail, not sure how you can tee off at 7am and end up with a 5 and half hour round. 3 groups became a norm on the tee boxes , on the back the two 3somes in front of us became a 6 some and they were still pushing the groups up front. Game was at times, bad at times, course was in really great shape, greens rolled well.

Give Wilmette another chance. I've played it 10 times this year. It's 15 minutes from my house. I think it's pretty fair, and in decent shape. Granted, I only play there weekdays after 3pm for $30. I wouldn't pay $50 to play there.
