Well, its finally bourbon time, again...

I usually stay off the sauce most of the winter. It just tastes better on the golf course. Well, we played 2/28 at Hilldale, sloppy but playable and I was already buzzed off my arse by the 2nd hole, LoL.

My winter hobby took over(and no my winter hobby isn't PoleKatz)and all my time and money went in another direction. I haven't purchased anything golf related until last week!

At the Tinley show, I scored a free round at Green Garden and a demo set of 714 AP2's and a new vokey 62deg wedge for $425. I forgot how much I love the AP2's. Almost bought a floor model Scotty Cameron for $199 but came to my senses.

 

The Rosemont show was a waste. No Kohler Resort show special this year. The free golf visions round was the best part.

 

The best part of the shows for me are usually the course deals.

Made it out today. Weather was great (windy though), and the ground was in better condition that I would have expected. Shot my round of the year, to date! ;) Tried the CMBs I built this winter, and they were buttery smooth on clean hits. Such a nice club.

 

Started the back nine with 4 straight pars. Had a little incident between my Gamegolf unit and the cart, and the cart won. The unit fell from my belt while we were moving, fell under the tire, and was run over. It appears to still work, but it is cracked, and there is something loose in it.

Played St. Andrews today. Could not get the ball to the hole.

Greens were super slow and I have been practicing all winter on my putting green, which is like an 11 Stimp. :(

Got out to Poplar Creek today just after 3 o'clock and actually finished the round. Played the last 2 holes in darkness. Course was in pretty decent shape.

Watch out for the season debut of the Premier Foursome at George Dunne this Saturday. The course is totally blocked out for this special event. Well, there maybe a few openings to a select few.

Interesting that Glen Ellyn is on the not making money list, as Village Links just revamped and expanded that restaurant, and it seems pretty packed whenever I'm there. When it was being built I said it was a waste to do that much work and not add a wedding reception facility, but what do I know?

When I popped the link I thought to myself, I'm sure VL is in the black. Surprise! It's one of the biggest losers. The place is always packed. The 18 hole course, the 9 hole course, the range - even Reserve 22, the restaurant. To be fair, those numbers are from a 2014 audit and the facility was pretty jacked up before they completed the improvements.

Interesting stuff regarding the facilities. VL may have been in the red '13/'14, but I expect 2015's (and beyond) actual numbers to look better. Reserve 22 has the potential to be the top food and beverage destination for the area's (well moneyed) residents, but as someone earlier had posted here, the food and service need to take a step up in consistency.

Not me, that's Lefty trying to drive the green. Hole sets up nicely for me, never had a problem.

They can't have it any faster otherwise it would be unplayable with most of the 18 hole greens having a severe slope on them especially 2, 14 and 15.
