Pretty much every tour ball on the market will provide similar performance at less cost. Take your pick. Look for an "x" in the name of the ball, which typically denotes a ball on the harder side of average.

Callaway Chrome Softs. You'll love them.

Chrome Soft is not even in the same ballpark as the Pro-V1X. It's much softer with much lower compression.

The Chrome+ is a little closer to the Pro V1X. Firmer feel, less spin off the driver and a fair amount of green side spin.

The Srixon Z-Star XV is also a good alternative. You can find still last years model for $29 a dozen.

As stated before, pretty much any ball with an "x" on the end. Chrome+ isn't a bad call either. There's plenty of Callaway SR3's on sale sub-$40 and some even sub-$35 if you want a "current" ball that looks to be on the phaseout list.
[/quote]Except for Bridgestone

Comparable balls are: Srixon XV, Chrome +, SR3, B330, RZN Black, TM TPX, FG tour x

Go with the Volvik S3 you can usually pick them up for under 40. I have found them to be longer and straighter of the tee (Less Driver spin) and pretty good around the green. They don't spin as much as the Prov1 or prov1x but I have no trouble stopping them on a dime on the green.

Vice Pro +(Plus)

If you dont mind a slightly softer feel the "standard" Vice Pro will do as well. Great ball at about half the cost

Any balls that play somewhat like a Pro V1x but not quite as costly?

I know you get what you pay for, I don't expect the same performance. But a "compromise" ball might be nice to consider; a little less performance and a little less cost.

Thank you very much!

Check you PM.

And you can usually find good deals on last year's pro-line balls. I saw the Bridgestone 330 for $35 at Academy Sports.
Also look for Wilson FG TourX.

I'll throw my vote in for the Chrome Soft as well. It's a very different ball, but reasonably priced and the only ball in a long time to beat the ProV1(x) in Golf Digest's ball review. Best ball I've ever used.

I'm not saying it isn't a great ball. I'm saying it isn't comparable to the Pro V1X from a feel or compression standpoint.

Chrome+ is the best ball in Callaway's lineup. It is not as firm as the V1x but it is close. I found a SR2 on the course and played some holes with it but I remember the Chrome+ being a little firmer but it has been a few months. I am a long time V1x player and tried the Chrome Soft for 3 rounds. It was so so..... Not terrible but I was expecting more from the ball that changed the ball. Noticed no reduce spin off the driver and no where near the amount of spin of V1x around the greens and just too soft for me. I gave away the couple sleeves I had left. Not a big fan. The Chrome+ spins more around the greens and feels much better off the putter. Not a Callaway's fan but the Chrome+ is a very good ball and worth a try.......

Chrome + is a similar ball. Ironically, Callaway made a Chrome Speed ball, that was an update to the Chrome +, but they ended up canning it, because the Chrome Soft was so popular. You can buy the Chrome Speed for a pretty good price from the Callaway site as a limited release (edit: from Off Price Golf, link below). In the fall, they will be releasing a Chrome Soft X, that will be similar to the ProV1X. It will be coming out at the end of the season for some reason.

Got to second this choice! Was super impressed with it in all areas. Long off the tee with good spin around the greens.
