Man, I have a career on the Champions Tour to look forward to - I can 3 putt from 3 feet ANYWHERE!! :-)

I think it is a little early to write him off from a major.

 

Keep a few things in mind:

 

1. He drives the ball around 25+ yds beyond the tour average. This means you should not compare his 100-125yd hole proximity with other player's 100-125yd hole proximity, you need to compare his 100-125 to others 125-150yd proximities. He would be just inside the top 10 @ 20'8" vs Ryo Ishikawa's 20'10" (#10 from 125-150).

 

TL;DR - head to head approach stats need to be taken in context

 

2. He has at least 40 more chances to win a major.

 

3. Butch Harmon is his coach.

 

It was only a matter of time - I am so happy it was when i bet on him at 14-1 :)

 

That final approach was a top 3 drop the mic moment in golf.

I must admit that I never thought he would do it but I am very glad that I was wrong. What impressed me over the years was that he never moaned, groaned, blamed anybody else or anything, and just kept at it. I'm really happy for him! :clapping:
