Another question.. I need a ladies covert 2.0 driver to complete a set. If I get a men's driver and place a ladies kuro cage shaft in it, will it essentially be the same as a "ladies covert 2.0" driver then? Swing weight the same? C8 I believe.

I've decided to get a 2 iron. Undecided between the Taylormade UDI (c taper lite) and the Nike VFP 2 iron (TT XP95). For those that have hit both... which one is more forgiving (in the default shafts) and which one did you like overall?

anybody try removing the black on the VFP was just messing around and took the black off the sole of my VFP 3 and 4i, just wondering how much I can take off on the cavity. I know the RZN will always be black, topline, face, hosel should be no problem, just wondering if its PVD like on the VPs and VPCs

 

Did you move forward and do the rest of the club head? How do you take the finish off?

Yeah update to the app. My buddy is trying to get me added to the test list of the app. He's had it awhile and I've seen it, definitely an upgrade to the current. As far as device, don't think Nike will develop a separate device, but hopefully try to integrate the app with the Apple watch would make the most sense.

 

 

Considering Nike and Apple has a good relationship I can see Nike revamping the app to be Watch compatible. Most of the former Fuelband engineers are at Apple now too.

 

Hopefully that will lead to a new APK and being Android Wear compatible as well.

 

On a different note I recently got the Microsoft Band 2 and while the golf app is branded by TM, its a pretty good application, with the yardage and scoring (the auto scoring is hit and miss though) built in.

Bittersweet day weekend for me. Just sent my Covert 2 forged off as part of a trade in for a set of VFP. I have to say the Covert irons were so soft and I really loved playing them. Maybe I'll pick up a backup set in the future.

Why exactly do engage wedges rust? I know the physics behind why, but what is the purpose? Is it just the glare issue or does it actually help spin ball more?

Asking 125 shipped on US. Never been hit, changed out shafts first day I got it. Still has blue grip and Nike adapter. Shoot me a pm if interested

The raw finish is a preferred look by many. Offers little to no glare and softer feel than plated (although feel is mostly subjective/personal). Pretty certain studies have shown that rust has no impact on spin, either way. Love my Engage wedges. Have had them since they came out. Still not overly rusty. But I've never tried to make them rust like some others on here have. Just letting it happen naturally. The reality is that I just don't play enough.

I recall reading somewhere that rusting actually reduced spin versus a plated wedge. No rust on my engage but I will take the wire brush to it once in a while then finish with a mist of WD40. Don't like the rust look but just awesome wedges either way!

Not sure re: spin. But I'm with on the rust. Don't want mine looking super rusty either. Never understood why people try to make theirs look that way. But definitely like the raw look.

Must be a newer relationship because things were tense over the FuelBand as it was supposed to be co-developed with Apple and then they pulled out last minute.

I imagine it will be a little longer than that. Maybe something like the MM Proto's sooner and I know some people have seen them or versions of them but I believe they are Oven custom versions.

I did too. You would think the rougher texture would add more spin, but since there is no plating on the outside, the grooves get worn down quicker because the surface is softer.

Well today was a amazing day for me......

 

I left early this morning from my home in northern Oklahoma to head to Fort Worth for work for the week. When I got there around 330 figured I would hit the Leonard Golf facility and hit some on the range to waste away the pretty nice day.

 

When I got there I noticed someone over at The OVEN using the practice facility. So I figured what the heck im going to go over and have a chat and see whats up.

 

Good thing I did! after meeting this guy and chatting for a minute he asks me if I have ever toured their facility. I answered with NO.

 

Well that changed today! I got to tour the whole facility for awhile. Seen the labs, putter and wedge shop. Learned alot of cool things about NIKE and the Golf side. I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING NEW before people ask. Just the normal stuff out now. Saw the cool brick with all the players sigs stamped on it, some wedges being built for Finau, some old TW and Rory wedges, the testing facilities and fitting facility. Dave Franklin was leaving there while we were there, so he was putting in some work on a Sunday!

 

Then I was asked if I wanted to hit some on the Trackman. What a cool opportunity! I havent been hitting my driver well and got some good help with the driver and finally saw some numbers with my three shafts I have been playing. HZRDUS Black, Rogue Silver, and stock blueboard. And the HZRDUS is defiently the shaft for me after seeing some numbers.

 

We then went out front to the practice facility and played a couple of holes on the short course. I am a HIGH handicap so this was a struggle for me. But man it was so cool to just be in the same place that these athletes and other famous people go when they want NIKE gear.

 

Truly a amazing experience to see everything that goes into producing, testing and finished products that we love using so much!

 

I had a amazing time there. Didnt leave till 8 or so now im back in my hotel room enjoying a cold Shiner Bock. My hope is to someday be able to go back for a full fitting!

 

Again a awesome experience for me, and I am thankful I was in the right place at the right time! And I thanked the guy a ton for this as I fan girled so hard lol.

For Trackman info we hit Platinum and Black balls like it was nothing haha. So crazy to go out and hit those balls I spend money on and here I am knocking them around a range.

And its pretty cool when your pulling into Leonard golf facility they have the ground raised with big plants so you cant really see the little practice course very good.
