Jumping in this thread rather than creating more of the same. I'm a low ball hitter (low flight and spin) with a SS of around 105. It seems to me that many of the heads that have been recommended in this thread are more low launch/low spin profile heads are they not? Can someone recommend some mid launch/mid spin heads that sit square or open as my misses are hooks?

So I'll probably at some point list it on the Classifieds, but I ended up testing the ZY11 with a Xanadu shaft vs a OnOff358 with a TRPX Air shaft. ZY11 just won. No idea of distances as it was range balls in Massachusetts in March, but the Head/Shaft combo didn't work as well for me. So if anyone is interested in it we can chat.

Just wanted to say FOR ME the ZY11 was a perfect feeling head and was very straight with that shaft.

Mizuno’s latest JDM driver is pretty nice, but anything Mizuno’s offering over there trumps here...sad we miss on a lot of nice irons...latest being mp66 (refined 64/25; beautiful) come to mind; but drivers as well, wouldn’t consider what we have here, but nice offerings in JDM market

These are a fraction of what ive used over the years and for me the best of what ive hit.

the freiheit is a very good driver, big boxy kind of longer elongated face VERY easy to hit, very big face, sound/feel is super.

used it for the high summer season 2 yrs ago, all carry it was hard to take it outta the bag,it gets a ton of carry but the loft is too high for me now , I have the 10.5* and I like a lower flight these days so I benched it.

worth a look tho. the fw are uber hammers

As great as the JDM Irons are, I have the feeling the JDM Driver market is not on the same level.

I tried a lot from Ryoma , Miura, EGG, A-Grind, Honma, Jbeam  and several EPONs.
The only one really sticking out at the time was the EPON AF-101 for the performance and the feel.

Currently nothing that keeps me looking away from the mainstream drivers....

For 2023, is there anything in JDM that beats mainstream drivers?

Anyone has experience with the following

Emilid Bahamas CV11 Pro

JBeam ZY Max

Baldo 568

Baldo Sky Driver 2

Progress BB6

and what driver shafts can give autoflex like performance

SKitter vortex

syuhari

Fire Express Prototype

Appreciate all your sharing.

The CV11Pro is the longest head out of all those listed....

as for shafts that are similar to the autoflex, only one I personally would go for simply because I love all there shafts is Syncagraphite; they have the zinger which is their autoflex equivalent

Wow great many thanks.

would you say their woods and hybrid would also be good?

I'm playing Waccine Compo and Ginnico driver heads now.  Still have the Grandista RS-001.  My fairway woods and hybrid were PRGR and Itobori.  I've moved to Ping G425... what?!

I'm moving the Waccine Wacwac-7 driver head and itobori hybrid heads if any one is interested.

@LionGolfer can you share how the waccine shafts and all the heads plays? What makes you go to Ping G425?

I dont play waccine shafts, just the heads.  I have the LS-01 now to replace the Wacwac-7.  Dat 55 face so if you subcribe to that, you'll like them.  THe wacwac-7 is a speed head from a weight and profile design.  Meant to be played longer and I play mine at 46.  In fact, most of my drivers are 45.75.  I'm on Arch-Kam shafts for all my drivers and fairway metals now.  Really really good shafts that seem to fit me best these days.

Why Ping?  I've always been hopeles with FWs.  Then I found PRGR Carrys (which I still have).  Extremely forgiving and usable. Only thing is there are weak lofted. Strongest loft is a 16 and then a 19.  I went with the Ping G425 as it is nearly as forgiving but stronger lofted which is what I wanted.  14.5 and 17.5.  They dont launch as high as the PRGR Carrys and run more.  Good and bad but its what I want now.

I am liking the Emilid Bahamas and Baldo Sky Driver 2 most now. I want to go try them when I have a chance and would like to explore shafts combo that fit best. Autoflex of course is in the mix.

What kind of distance you get out of the LS-01 and Arch-Kam combo at the moment and what is your SS, if I may ask, so I can gauge what i can expect. My SS is about 90-95mph.

Im about the same swing speed as you on average but can get to 100 on a good day... Rarely... I play arch kam flex 25 for driver shafts and flex 26 for Fw and UT shafts.

  • 3 weeks later...

Finally I get to try out the Accra FX3.0 140 M0 shaft. I havent the time to play nor practice for a couple of weeks, yesterday I had a chance to play in Osaka Japan for the first time. It was great outing though it was baking hot 36deg.

I think the shaft is superb. It doesnt feel like flimsy whippy at all. Feels just as tout as the Ventus when you swing hard and at impact it feels softer in hands. I feel I can swing easier. May be the Ventus was a bit too stiff for me to begin with but the Accra is really nice. I am going to keep it for now and hope to see better results with it.
