I remember when he lost so much weight. When he had the outburst in the PGA he didn't look too good. I wish him well. Hope he gets himself healthy again.

His swing is built for longevity.
Not really. There aren't many 20 year olds who can wind up their body like that consistently for so long. He's a physically gifted freak, and probably one of the greatest natural talents in the history of the game.

Get well, John.

Like I said, HIS swing. Meaning, belonging to him. What does that have to do with any 20 year olds?? You could say the same thing about Tom Watson or Sam Snead..

And actually, letting your hips go and having a long, tension free swing IS indeed built for longevity. Look at the other examples.

The newer style of big shoulder turn, small hip turn is more likely to cause injury and requires greater flexibility.

Through thick and thin, I always rooted for him.

He's fine, dehydration, and no it's not related to alcohol as he has basically abstained and hasn't binged in years.

He'll be good to go shortly :)

Oh, his good friend checks out the site, lol

"Hey Bubba, where are we?"

"Rt. 70"

"Shee*t, we can be in Little Rock in no time"

"Nah Bro, Rt. 70 in Washington County, PA"

"What time is it?"

"Bout 3:40(am)"

"What time's our tee time?"

"8:12(am)"

"Shee*t, I gotta get some sleep, Mr. Hardy'll be pissed if we're late"

"Yep"

He's gonna be good to go :)

And yea, his swing and body will be just fine-

As was mentioned.....

John's a freak :)

Fairways & Greens Bro and God Bless

I saw Daly last night after his trip to the hospital. He is good and going to play golf today.

awesome to hear! I heard the news on the golf channel and came here to get the scoop... always pull for JD and so glad its just dehydration.... As far as his swing goes... those with a long flowing swing understand that it isn't a move that takes any extra effort or thought.... its natural... and its healthy... I myself have a long flowing swing , not patterned after anyone, just the way it came out... it is timing based more so than a short rotational one, but it isn't strenuous... in fact ive tried 3 times (with instructor etc) to shorten mine and each time it actually puts more strain on my body.... I have to feel as if im "hitting the brakes" coming back and then start back up coming down......sort of a jerking motion .... just doesn't work... my goal is simply to not go past parallel... sometimes I do sometimes I go a whole round and don't.. anyway point is that when something like that is natural motion for a person it isn't hard to do... his body doesn't know any other way... it may shorten as he ages due to loss of flexibility, but he will still have the same sensation regardless of how far he turns... and that's what its about..the trigger to start the downswing...
Hey Bro, I hope all's well and they're flyin far and true
For Ya :)

Great post!!!

This is EXACTLY how John describes his swing(well, with a few "sheeee*ts" sprinkled in for emphasis).

It falls under my category of "been there done that" in that if you have never had the ability to just pick up a club and swing like John, Bubba, Jamie, Blade or my Bro, who made the regional finals in the Pinnacle LD(he placed 2nd in Pgh w/drive of 348 in the fairway), then you have no intellectual concept or bench mark to base ANY opinion on other than that which applies to possibly you and the majority of others.

My Bro has had peeps tellin him since he was a kid that "some day you're gonna have to change that if you wanna get serious about building a swing," lmao.

He could care less about "building a swing," lmao

He's a +3.2, won his first Club this year and at the age of 52yo, took Nathan to 23 holes before fallin in a MP tourney this summer & is in the physical shape of a kid 20 years younger(He also plays Masters squash & tennis) and shows no signs of slowing down.

Anyhoo, the "laws" and theories that apply to all those chirpin about what these guys can and cannot do simply do not apply to them.

I understand that the laws of physics, biomechanics and aging will eventually apply to them, however, please, pick someone else to chirp about because another thing I'll guarantee ya, these Boiz ain't listening, and their swing alterations will be natural, based on what their body allows them to do, not on the "traditional" theories of some Putz, lol ;)

And when I use the word Putz, I am referring to individuals who apply standard theories and bench marks to "outliers." Instead of studying them and those like them, a Putz will continue to vomit the same garbage in hopes that it will one day ring true, and economists and weathermen fall into this category, and they can say "see, I told ya."

THAT is a Putz my Friends :)

Ok, where was I?

Oh Yea, lol, spoke with John again this morning and he's playin today and tomorrow, we'll see what the doc says though, as it was a tad more than dehydration.

He's good to go, lol!!

Again, excellent post Bladester!!

Sheee*t, it's meds time :)

The lunch of Champions :)

Woohooooooooi!!

Sorry, list it for a sec, but I'm back :)

As Always,

All the Best,
Richard

GC reporting it was a collapsed lung. I've had two collapsed lungs and if that was the case there is no way he could play today.
I wonder who let this out as early this morning this was not "out there"

What time did you hear this?

Fairways & Greens My Friend,
Richard

Later Ed: 08/30/15-> Apparently his manager released a statement. He ain't gonna be playin, lol. Later, RP I

Later Later Ed: 08/30/15-> just spoke with a mutual friend who's with em and he's actually at the course and planning on playing. WoW. Though I've never suffered a collapse lung, I have broken several ribs on both side(different injuries) and those were THE most painful injuries I've ever had and that's through 13 orthopedic surgeries(11 knee, 2 shoulder) and the 4 bouts of cancer. It's like every time you breathe it's a stabbing pain.

I was just talking to my doc and granted he's an oncologist, though he said that usually bruising occurs with a collapsed lung and the symptoms can be similar to bruised/cracked ribs. I never spoke to john about his prior rub injury but damn, that's gotta hurt.

Thank goodness I just got my meds so I feel fine, lol :)

Later,
Richard

Two people on here claim to know the story. One says dehydration, the other says collapsed lung. One person is lying.

Or simply misinformed...Maybe?
Nope, not at all. Dehydration is what was released yesterday and into the eveing and we spoke briefly at 8:30ish last night and that is when he told me that it was a collapsed lung. My post stil states what I thought to be public knowledge though if you read my paragraph, I stated that it was a "tad more than dehydration."

I also showed skepticism about him playing today even though he told me last night that he was going to play. He's about as compliant as I am, lol.

That was not released until this morning and I actually was surprised when I first read it here because our mutual friend told a reporter early this morning when asked if it "was more serious than dehydration," that that is all that he knew.

I don't get paid for breaking stories

Take care,
Richard

Later Ed-> 08/30/15, 1:02pm-> actually, and excuse the "later editions" though I am pretty heavily medicated right now and my recall is not the best but he actually jumped on the phone this morning when I was talking with our mutual friend and I asked him if he was still planning on playin and he said "sheee*t yea," lol

So if it turns out that he doesn't play, please don't jump on here and call me a liar. That just means that someone with more sense than John prevailed, lmao

Take care Bro,
Richard

John might be my favorite player to watch on t.v, there is something old school about his swing that is just stunning. And it's not the long back swing, it's something about the balance and move through the ball that makes him inspiring and fun to watch, whether he is swinging a driver or a SW.

I remember watching some interview where he was asked what might happen if he put in more time practicing. He said his name would come off the bag and you'd probably never hear from him again lol.

My age being what it is, I saw his whole career trajectory. Followed him through the ups and downs. His last series on the Golf Channel marked a true golfer talking in language that was clear, good common sense, and purely helpful. Attended his RV when it was parked across from Augusta at times and got to shake his hand. At the end of the day he is one fun guy to watch. How he gets himself overseas venues (given how he feels about flying) sort of amazes me but he gets it done.

Get well soon JD... you're human and you're a fighter. There'll always be a place for you in golf.
