No, wouldn't consider it again. It was expensive and they didn't perform that well, especially for the price. I had a 54 and a 58. The 58 was great around the greens and incredible from the sand. Both seemed to dig way too much for me on mid and full shots. I have a Ping Glide in the 54 and a Mac Daddy PM in the 58. I love the Glide. Never digs on me. It just kind of glides. LOL.

The amount of customization that you can get in the wedges is amazing. I knew what I wanted, so I didn't do the fitting, but I've heard amazing things from people that have.

I love my wedges. I have the DVR grind in 50/16, 54/18, 58/22. The huge bounce gives me confidence on full shots. Believe it or not... I don't have issues with them from tight lies. (I don't play in an area with hard pan)

From what I've read about the wedges getting the right grinds are really important. I know you could say that about any wedge but it seems like it makes a larger impact for Edel. Haven't read a bad thing about the look and feel off the face though.

Ya I have heard the same - I love my Edel putter and the process that went into the fitting etc... Would love to experience that for wedges and irons eventually!

Everyone who had an Edel wedge that digged or had too much bounce should better blame themselves than the wedges.

No company with a wider array of grinds and bounces to fit every player

I think it depends on your fitting. I had the perfect circumstances.

Trackman

Indoor bay overlooking the back of a driving range

Grass for hitting

Knowledgeable Pro

I've owned the wedges - Trapper Grind and KBS Hi Rev for 3 seasons -- 50, 55, 60 -- great off hardpan, fairway, rough, sand. Of course, you must know how to wield a higher lofted 55 and 60 around the greens for versatility. I do traditional chips, Phil hinge and hold, laying the shaft back, using bounce, the flop, the low screamer pitch that hops and stop, bunker -- and it all works, and full shots from the fairway. Heck, I practice a minimum 30 minutes on these shots each time I go to the range.

IOW, you've got to know how to use a wedge.

Before the Edels, I was a wedge hound. No more.

Irons - 2 seasons in, go through the turf well, but they will expose poor swings. You can't have a zoro (all over the place) swing. Great feedback - my miss is toe, and I feel it. These are players to semi-player's clubs. Shaft is another key, which is why the fitter matters. I haven't looked at other irons. Nice amount of bounce, narrow to medium sole (more on the medium side), not much offset, topline not thin, which actually offers confidence. Some tech in the simple cavity in terms of design. Very understated, and no one knows about them - I like that.

I did get an E-1 putter recently -- and it's working.

Agreed, especially given the amount of bounce you can get on the wedges and grinds to suit your style and playing conditions.

Give the wedges a bit of time in your bag before you change. The first 4 rounds I had with them were less than spectacular. The reason for that is because most wedges have the center of the grooves closer to the heel than Edel. They spent a ton of time analyzing wear patterns on wedges used on tour and by amateurs to dial in exactly where the center of the grooves should be. I've had mine for a season now and I'll say that my wedge game is tons better for it. Although they have high bounce, they can be manipulated to suit almost any lie.

One bit of advice, hit a few wedge shots with your current wedges. Don't get fit into what MIGHT be your swing but what IS your swing. They have so many options that you don't have to change much about your swing to become a great short game player. The time and effort that was put into my fitting has left me very impressed and I don't plan on switching companies anytime soon. They also spend time making them and customizing them for you but don't drag it out to where you feel forgotten about.

Was fitted for a full set a few weeks ago. Absolutely love them. Wedges take a lot of getting used to, but I'm hitting the 55* insanely well right now. I don't know if they are clubs I'd pick up off the BST, though (that's what drivers are for).

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
