Oh I found an RZN today... didnt know it was a good ball.... I played my old TPx today and my wedge bag Pro V1s and hit the ball better than I ever have as I was nearly 100% healthy...... TPx (2015 model) was by far the best distance wise and the Pro V1 spun great for me on wedges but as I hit a low draw with 2-7 irons I was still getting pop and hop.....

This new TPx sounds like a Pro V1 mimic vs the old TPx and Pro V1x mimic.... not a deal for me at $48 as one can go Chrome Soft for the same type of performance...

I hit my longest drives as a round today.... Adams XTD Ti Driver is so choice, so long

Got to hit some with the 2016 TPX ball. From 50 yards it stops dead. Very impressed! Ball stopped about a foot or so from the pitch mark when I hit the shot. Wedge is PM grind.

From a 5 iron point of view the trajectory is around tree top high as I call it. Not high but not super low either.

Feel is great. Not hard and not too soft.

$47.99 everywhere for the 2016 TM TP balls.
But I'm sure we can count on TM to have a deal in the near future to get the ball into our hands at a cheaper price. They will have too if they want to compete with the #1 Ball.
They will certainly need to do better than $48 to get people to buy them. The chrome soft > $40 is still the best bang for your bck ball deal going. Anything over $40 will not make it to my bag.
I would think these would settle in at around $39.99 per dozen

Being able to use 20%-25% off coupons on taylormade balls at places like sports authority, Dunhams, Golfsmith, dicks, etc helps a good deal. Never able to use the coupons on titleist balls blows but with everyone allowing competitive coupons you can find some great deals. Just picked up a dozen new project a's (2016 model) for $26 which is decent imo.

I've been playing the regular TP (not X) ball and prefer it over the TPX. Has anyone played the 2016 TP ball? How does it compare? Thanks.
Seems to have the trajectory and greenside spin of the first generation TP combined with the distance of the TPx. I've played five rounds with it now, awesome ball...very stable in the wind too.

stability in wind is the top criteria for choosing a golf ball followed by greenside spin and then durability

I've only played 9 holes with the new TPX so initial thoughts are limited, but I will say that it feels very soft off the putter. A few shots into a hard wind held their line just fine and distance was ok. It seems to fly higher than the Volvik S4 I've been playing, but I need to play a few more rounds to be sure.

I have a dozen of the 2016 TPX and will compare them side by side with the old TPX, my ball #11. Hoping for improvements in all areas.

Headed to Myrtle Beach For the week. I would think 10 rounds would be able to test them out pretty well!

Does anyone know of a place online, or in Northern VA, that sells these by the sleeve instead of a dozen? I'd like to try both the TP and TPX out to see how they'd work for me.

Usually you can always find sleeves at a golf course pro shop. If the course carries Taylor Made they would probably have the TP balls too. Hard to find sleeves for sale in stores anymore.

Just got mine today, will update as I am able.
Have yet to take any full swings with the ball, but seems to be a worthy contender with the v1x based on short game performance. My local course had the greens redone during the summer, and the greens became playable on the 17th of November. They are fast, firm and contoured. I may not be able to post good scores on this course again, but the new tpx seemed to have the most check compared to the prov1 and prov1x that I normally play.

So far they meet my short game expectations.

The tpx is certainly worth a gander though.
I bought a dozen and hated them as well. I've recently ventured away from my 10 years of playing prov1/prov1x and have been playing z stars and I am more than pleased.

Shouldn't you be playing TP instead of TPX if your preference is ProV1?

Back from Myrtle Beach. Had 2.5 before it rained and turned cold. The 2016 TPX performed as expected of the tee and from the fairway/rough. Greens had been overseeded and wet so you could have stopped a cue ball on the greens. So, the jury is still out on the greenside green spin enhancement.

I did notice a couple times, the new ball seemed to scuff on full or hard wedges. Actually a full 8 iron made a "smudge" similar to hitting a tree. Not a scrap, but more paint damage than shredded/cuts.

Have to load up again for more testing.

For me personally, love the current ball, and am finding them at $27-$30 a dozen right now, going to stockpile over the winter.

I play to about a 9 cap, and am just not sure I am going to see a difference in scoring at my level. I think the ball works well everywhere.

I have a hard time with $45+ a dozen. I play a lot.

They seemed to spin way too much off the driver and just felt hard in general. Around the green etc. I like the z stars as much as I like prov1s now.

I've been playing it the last few rounds and its a solid performer tee to green as expected but where it steals the show is on the green. I love to putt this ball. It has outstanding feel, holds its line one the green well, and seems to have a few extra rotations near the hole to sneak in the cup. I believe that's due to a high MOI? Anyway, I make more putts with this in play so I'm sticking to them for a while.
