Who is completely content with their bag?

Inasmuch as I know what's in my bag isn't costing me strokes, I'm content. At age 58, everything is now regular flex, the 280 yard drives are less frequent, and the sub 70 rounds even more so. Anything is the 70's is a good day....

Completely content...need to bend my putter and might have to replace a wedge soon. But dang I love me some slotted grooves. Just...wow. love my Clevelands but that x wedge, so sweet. Had it for 6 yrs...still back a ball up with it.

Note...had all the same equipment for 5 yrs leading up to the new bag. Not a ho, yet...this site is trouble though.

I have been overcome lately with the feeling of troubled satisfaction.

On one hand I am content with my X2 hot driver
Tee CB5 3 wood
910 hybrid

I am also content with my collection of irons sets, almost a set of irons for every day of the month.

I do not know whether to laugh or cry over my hoing ways.

I am satisfied knowing iv'e got enough crap to last me a lifetime.

For the last few yrs I have really enjoyed reading all the upcoming new iron reviews, and then very happy to find and test most of these sets at discounted prices.

After hitting so many different sets iv'e come to the conclusion most of this stuff plays pretty well.

Even my men's night partner has commented on the fact I seem to play very similarly every week even thou I bring a different set every week.

I hope to sell of all sets except for maybe 5 and then settle on can I say it 1 set.

So I can't yet say I am completely content but getting a lot closer.

Jim.

 • 3 weeks later...

I think it's almost impossible to resist the urge for change in the bag. I thought I was completely content with my bag a week ago, but this week I am laying a different driver and am eyeing new grips even though the ones on my club are still almost new. I am consciously trying to keep the same irons in the bag, but even then I am still tinkering with lead tape.

Very very nearly there. Some final testing to be done before Christmas and then I am done for a while.

Once I am set on my final 14 for 2016 I need to get about 4 clubs up on eBay so that I am not tempted to revert back after bad swing days.

I'm content with my bag for now.

913D2 7.5 driver
TEE CB3 13.5 three wood
3-PW MP4s w/ c taper x stiff shafts
Vokey 52,56,60
Taylormade maranello TP Kia Ma putter

The only thing letting me down lately is my putting lol. Maybe I'll just blame the cold weather for the first 6 holes of every round lately.

I'm content with my bag. I don't need to change anything. I'm going to try out a new driver though just because I got a $50 gift card to callaway from work as recognition on a project I worked on. I love my fairway, hybrid, irons, wedges, and putter so the only thing to play around with is the driver which is also the weakest part of my game. I wouldn't be changing it without the gift card.

I think I'm happy with my bag for the first time in a long time and it's killing me. I'm hitting every club in my bag as good as I can. My irons were custom fit and are perfect for me. I still love my wedges and putter even after gaming them almost the entire year now. The two hybrids I have are ridiculously easy to hit and don't go left on me which is critical. My driver and 3 wood are both smashing the ball and I feel really comfortable with them. If I change anything next year it would be shafts because I'll probably take the driver to my fitter at some point to make sure I'm optimizing my numbers with what I currently have in there. Everything else is awesome. Now I just walk into a golf store and wander around with no real interest in anything.

So far with the M1 shooting bullets down the range, i have to say it's been a real pleasure and surprise over the FT-9 Tour. It could be the shaft or the loft difference (6.5 vs 8.5) but I'm completely happy with the performance
3 Wood
TEE E8 Beta is a monster. Huge confidence booster and i highly doubt it gets bumped out of the bag any time soon

Irons
As for the irons, both 681T and Razr X MB are stellar and i can play either club very well but 681T will probably take a backseat while it gets refinished

Wedges
Since going to 2-pw to 3-pw allows me one extra club in the bag, i may pick up a 50* wedge since pw on razr x seems to be slightly longer than 681T

Putter
If i could, i would get 4 more Protype ix #1 to cut and configure and experiment

I thought I was content with my bag but I'm kidding myself. I want pure dtx grips on all my clubs, and am on the lookout for a good 12 degree head I can put a decent shaft in (most 12 degree heads are draw biased and have soft shafts). I can still get NVs from my pro shop for around $50 installed with grip, so if I find a decent head I will put a 75 stiff in and see how that goes. I use reg in my irons but ha e found tip start ff, heavy shafts in stiff have always been better for driver.

Just complete my bag setup for the 2016 season. my 2016 goal is to keep the bag exactly how i have it in my signature and work on my game. As much as I love all the clubs in my bag and how they perform now, it is a little sad not being able to have a spot open for me to tinker around and try and find an solution.

But not changing anything for a whole year will put alot of cash in my pocket for more rounds. Looking forward to the challange. Will need to stop loging on to this site for sure.
