I played a set a long time ago when they were only marked as TOUR below the last step and while heavy they're not harsh. Still have that good DG feel but ultimately decided they were too heavy for my mere mortal swing speed. They're still in my garage and may come back out some day but I doubt it.

Has anyone tried soft stepping these and if so, what do they compare to once the stiffness is lessened a little bit?

Not sure if anyone answered you here but I soft stepped these and I've had them for about 2 months now. Absolutely love them, feel is incredible and flight is just excellent. Took out some curve, spin and height from my iron shots which is all you can ask for. Feels pretty much like an x100 but spins less.

Here is one more added to the soft stepping. I double soft stepped them into a set of AP2 heads and couldn't be happier. In terms of stiffness they come in about the same as X100 straight in. the difference is a few things that are noticeable. 1) the butt diameter is larger than the normal x100 or DG tour issue line. 2) they are heavier than any shafts in the DG line 3) the kick point is VERY different. MUCH Higher to produce a lower flight. because of this they produce a much shallower divot when struck solid. These are THE Bomb.

Totally agree on the divots too, I noticed that the other day actually. My divots used to be quite deep like Sergio kind of. Now I'm creating shallow divots and sometimes even a nice clean strike just brushing the ground. Love the heavy feel too.

My fitter and myself have had much different results.

Spin- low to high

Obviously these are all straight in. X7 launched lowest and spun less than anything else in our experience. PX 7.0 followed.

I need zero help elevating a shot. The X7 takes best care of that for me. The CTapers were close but just not durable (tips bent) after a season of light play and no digging. The 7.0 were a complete joke. To be fair on the 7.0, they were a little over length when I hit them. Either way, they brought rain. After a short stint with the CTapers, I went right back to the X7 and haven't looked back.

That's fair enough. 7.0 wasn't quite as bad for me. The first set I had were hard stepped and felt awful. Flight was fine but feel sucked. X7 was easily the best option out of these for me at the time. SS was 102-105 avg with a 6i then. Now I've slowed a bit (upper 90s with 6i) and smoothed out my transition so it matters alot less the shaft I've got in there with the irons. X7 is still the low launch/spin king for me though with alot better feel than anything in the that ballpark.

The only shafts that I have hit that have come close to X7 are the Nippon Protos (2S14 and C10) and the original Brunswick FCM shafts from 7.0 to 7.5. The pre-rifle FCMs were such a good shaft! It's a shame that they abandoned that product when they bet the farm on the Rifle.

FCMs launched like Dynamic Gold with better feel and could actually be frequency matched. The weights were sometimes goofy, but excellent performers. I'd love to see someone resurrect that model. The butt stiff/tip soft of Rifle, PX, and CTaper just doesn't work with my swing.

Anyone playing a mixed bag of X100's in the long irons and X7's in the short irons?

Why not soft step the long irons instead...?

I suppose I could, but I'd only really like my 7-pw to have a little less spin and I already have X100's in 3-pw. Thinking about costs, mainly. But, if people notice a bigger benefit in the long irons I may swap all of them.

If you can tolerate the feel difference between the two shafts, I have no doubt that you will love the performance.

One of my favorite spots for these shafts is still in the wedges. You get that classic Dynamic Gold predictability and feel, but you can go after any shot you want. Feel the need to nuke a lob wedge that will come down near vertical? Done. Need to nip a hot trajectory, spinning sand iron that's going to hit and quit? Done. So much better than S-400 or even X-100.

Where is the cheapest places you guys have found these? I see them on eBay ranging from $295-$320 (3-pw). I contacted a local-ish shop to see what they can get them at and they had to call Golfworks, which told them they won't have any for at least a couple weeks.

Only a PFC club shops and certified dealers will have them
