Jetspeed: a loft up driver or not?

Hello all. Topic says it all. Stopped buying brand new gear and wait for prices to drop. Remember trying this driver and got some really good numbers with it (better than the SLDR). Didn't actually go thru a fitting, but was this a driver you were supposed to loft up? If you tried it did you need to loft up or was your standard loft ok? Time for a "new" driver and this one has been one I really considered.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the SLDR the only real "loft up" club? That's the only true low spin driver TM had put out.

I read it somewhere that jet speed was a tad low spin also. Always better lofting up. More fairways.

I've had my Jetspeed for one full season now and its a great driver. I normally hit a 10.5* driver and did not have to loft up with the Jetspeed. Earlier in the season I was struggling with it so I had a range session and tried every loft setting possible with it. I found that the 10.5* or Standard setting works best for me.

It spins low comparatively to other drivers, but spins like 300 rpm more than SLDR according to Taylormade if my memory is correct.

It launches a bit low compared to other models due to the CG location.

Have a 9.5 and 10.5 head, both launch higher than my r1 set at 10 or 11. Also higher than g30 lst @ 10 with tour 65. That is with rip phenom and red tie shafts in S.. Not sure what the velox is like.

Tldr - no I would not loft up too much!!

Taylormade advertised it as low spin and forward cg. Everyone is correct that it was not as low spin as the sldr. I personally could not launch the sldr high enough at 85 mph swing speed. Jet speed was a great match for me, and I've been playing it for a year. I've always played 10.5 loft. I went with 12 degrees on the jetspeed and my launch is optimal. I don't know if I had to loft up for this driver, or if I should have lofted up years ago with other drivers.

If you've got a trackman at your shop, it will be quite simple to see what loft you need. If not, the club is adjustable up 1.5 and down 1.5, so you can do your own driving range testing.

Just make sure to trim the shaft. The stock 46 inches should be illegal to sell to amateurs. It's Un-hittable.

No need to lost up but the CG is lower on the jet speed producing a higher ball flight if you look at TaylorMade site, in the same loft whatever club I compare it to the jet speed of mine typically launches 2 degrees higher
