Bandon Winter/Spring Reviews - When did you stop raining so much Oregon?

The word is out about the Bandon Value Season...

SHHHHHHHHHH...... I don't think anyone else should try to book a trip there ;). That being said, I'm psyched for my Feb 21-25 trip followed by hopefully another shot at Chambers Bay on the way back to Canada.

Fully booked for Feb is an understatement. I feel lucky enough to have been able to make a schedule work for 2/20 to 2/24. Was surprised the earliest replay they had for BD on 2/22 for a 3 some was 1:40pm. Hope we finish!?

See you there! We booked a year out and weren't able to schedule 1 round on Trails. I'm hoping to reschedule while there.

When I made our Reservation tee times were more jumbled together. Seems they are closing 1 or 2 courses for a day here and there for maintenance sporadically this time of year. For our trip the 1st week of March, Trails was closed 1 day and Old Mac another making juggling tee times pretty hard

Anyone going to be there March 6 - 9?

Those that have been recently, any trip reports or reports on conditions of the courses? As always I figure they will be in great shape. Any issues with the greens on Pacific? Any rain issues causing the cpurses to be less firm and more soft?

The courses can handle a lot of rain fall. Collection areas are well thought out and fast draining. Seldom do the fairways and greens slow do rain. I played this past weekend and Pacific greens were @ 11. The warm weather has greens crews busy with exceptional growth. The issues I had/have are slow play...me. I stop and gaze at the wonder of that place with the spectacular views.

Only muddy spot I have ever seen was the short game area (at east end of range, not Shorty's). Not sure if this has been changed/remedied.

Kev, I'll be there early Thursday AM for our first round at Pac (staying Thur-Sun).

Hopefully the weather turns out to be as nice as it was earlier this week.

That time of year (yes August :)) again!

Booked our Thanksgiving trip and now it's just counting down the 3.5 months and seeing what makes the bag to the first tee on day one.

Per usual the accommodations for 3/4 nights is the trickier deal than tee times.

They still have the pricier multi-room corner suites in the lodge, otherwise it's Chrome Lake/Lily Pond for a foursome.

We have 8 leaving the day after thanksgiving. Made reservations almost a year out and had to juggle things around some then.

Ya I think working in Bandon's reservations dept must involve getting up to a certain level in Tetris during the interview process :)

Especially during the offseason with limited light making folks more keen about tee times... especially with one course closed per day and IIRC some of the accomodation is (or used to be) closed during the winter too.

Difference this year, is they no longer take tee-time reservations after 1pm, I'll assume maybe you still can make them once on site?

Duff, you know the drill, get on their website, interactive map, visualize every shot on every course, and imagine what club/s you want from each position. Then do it again accounting for rain, wind, sun, drunkness, etc..... Simple. hahahaha.

You know it Buz :)

Bit miffed that this will be the first trip where we are not starting on Old Mac - I love starting on that worry free opening tee shot (yes yes the 2nd can be tricky) and being out away from the rest of the golfers on that plateau teebox. Playing the very strong par 3 2nd and then making that climb on 3!

Obviously I am looking forward to all of it, but yes there are a couple holes per course I am looking to play well after a couple years of hacking them up... and indeed a solid meal, no more than 6 beers, all the banter with my mates, and a good night's rest, before doing it all over again!

Yeah, I like starting on either Bandon or OM. Trails and PD require another level of precision to get around. Scoring on OM is tough imo, but you can beat it around if you're not on your game easier than the other courses, for the most part.

3 weeks out from teeing it up at Bandon this year (well really 2 weeks, 6 days, 22hrs, but who's counting) :)

Managed to make some changes to get OM first and last as it turns out on our travel days, so we've got:

Old Mac

Trails | Bandon

Bandon | Pacific

Pacific

Old Mac

Maybe fit Shortys or an alternate shot replay in on the one day nothing is booked for the afternoon, otherwise it's just a matter of counting down and hoping there aren't too many torrential rains between now and then!

I like that you're playing BD and PD repeats back to back, and different times of day. Sick itinerary. Though to be honest, they're always sick itineraries at Bandon. :)

Played Shortys for the first time in a while last trip and had a total blast. It may have had something to do with the bottle of Oban 18 consumed along the way, but really, isn't that something that counts as part of the joy? In fact, I'll add that sneaking off to the beer shacks on PD and OM between holes for a reload adds to the greatness of the rounds.

Thanks :)

Ya it's like a turducken (which fits being Thanksgiving) with Pacific rounds wrapped inside Bandon rounds, wrapped inside Old Mac rounds, Trails... umm, the stuffing I guess? LOL.

I think on the Sat there might be a beverage purchased passing from 12-13, but otherwise it's not really ideal pints weather out there, well except for the Punchbowl obviously, as there's really no other point to go there ;)

Interested to see how the courses are this year, not seen any posts in threads about issues, as have cropped up in previous years, whether it be flooding, forest fires, bugs, etc...
