What's the shortest drive you've ever hit?

I stepped to the 1st tee with my brand new TaylorMade RBZ (white) driver, and teed the ball nice and high. With a good tailwind, I was going to pound the snot out of the ball. With a mighty swing I went right under the ball, catching it on the crown. The ball went straight up in the air ~20 to 30 yards, and came straight down at my feet. I'd say a good 8 inches in front of the tee. I look down to see the ugliest black scuff mark on the crown of my now slightly used driver. Ugh.

I think I witnessed the shortest drive ever used in a scramble. In a 9-hole work scramble, we had a guy on our team that struggled to make contact on any shot. We had to take one drive from each member, so we waited until #9 to use his drive. Luckily it was a whiff, and not a top, so the rest of us could use a tee for our second shots on a driveable par 4.

I didnt measure it, but I know for a fact that the divot went further than the ball. As did the club shortly afterwards. In my defence I was about 9 years old.

A friend of mine once hit a drive that measured minus 150 yards. It hit a stone tee marker ahead of us, then ricocheted backwards down the previous hole. Fun times.

Playing in my first golf outing. Step up to the tee box and I'm a nervous wreck - 25 spectators watching me tee off.

First swing.....and it's a complete whiff.
Second swing....nerves so bad, I can hardly hold my club and .... I top it into the little pond 10 yards front of the tee box
Third swing....I just wanted to be off the tee box and away from the embarrassment.ade contact, but sliced hard nearly onto neighboring fairway.

Was just so happy to run off that tee box, I was so eembarrassed. Thankfully it was a scramble else I'd have been posting a monster score on hole 1.

Negative 40 yards or so - I hit a tree about 60 yards in front of the tee on the left side of the fairway. I nailed it and the ball came screaming back and ended up 40 yards or so behind the tee box. First I ducked. Then I laughed my a** off. Yikes.

0 yards. A week ago I teed off on a tree lined fairway and hit a tree flush about 50 yards out. It came straight back and landed on an alternate tee box just left of where I teed off.

I was playing a pick up game with a couple of guys; one of them says "next time don't stand so close to the ball on your practice swing." I teed up again and nutted one up the middle of the fairway.

-35 yards. Walked it off lol. Was on vacation and couple palm trees next to tee in front and off a bit to the side. Dogleft right so was trying to cut as much off as possible. Was off so much that I flushed the second palm tree, went up a bit and backwards and rolled up to back tees. I am very talented.

If we are not counting total distance of ball flight mine would be -30 yards, second shot I was standing behind tee box hoping to clear the trees I failed to clear with the first shot.

Of course this all started with giving my playing partners a hard time for there mishits right before taking my final tee shot of the round, but at least they were playing their second from in front of the 18th tee box, although not very far as they also hit into the trees. I get up determined to show how it's done and nail a large pine square and we all dive for cover as it comes straight back across the tee about waist high, I now try to keep my mouth shut until I have finished my own tee shot.

All whiffs and tops and toes and heelers and pop-ups aside... I nailed the 150 pole on the fly with my 3 hybrid on a shorter par 4. The ball came back, dead straight, to leave me with net 86 yards off the tee. Just a fantastic thing to witness.

A bag of left-handed junk.

Had my first ever negative drive today playing in an Ambrose competition. This is my partner hitting our second from about 5ft behind where i teed off.

Hole is an absolute stinker with a massive branch extending down the left hand side which doesnt help as the fairway is a massive left to right slope. You essentially have to hit under this branch to get the ball to stop before it runs into the woods ont he right. You can tell when the green keeper is having a rough day when he puts the tee in such a position you have no hope.

Anyway, absolutely smoked a driver that hit the branch about 50 yards off the tee, expected it to ricochet down or in to the crap but had to take evasive action when it came back at me like an Exocet missile. That branch is not too far away from a meeting with a saw.

Once played with a guy who hit a daisy cutter into a ditch about 40 - 50 yards off the tee: the ball rebounded of the stone lined far side of the ditch and shot back over our heads, out of bounds and into the river about -50 yards behind us. It just happened to be the son of the club pro, which put the icing on the cake.

Very average high school golfer. Bad team, senior year, last match of the season. Playing cross town rival, team was very good. I was playing #1, again not bragging went something like 9 match wins, 15 lost. Their #1 was undefeated something that very rare around here. Lots of parents, friends, local reporters etc. We go off first, he stripes one down the middle, I pop one up half way to the ladies tee, 15 yards maybe.
The kids on the other team started laughing, and giggling. it's gonnana be a cake walk type comments and early congratulations. Beat him 3 and 4, I don't have many winning type stories, this is one of the few in a 40 year golf life, mostly came up just short a lot.
