To all the people proclaiming that the G is no improvement over the g30, what are you basing this off?

Pretty sure they are talking about the front page article. I've been hearing the same thing from my buddy who does fittings but will still buy the G...

Both testers still gained ball speed and neither were optimized. I would think there are gains to be made. And it was only two players.

I'd love to hear more about the sound of the G series vs. the G30 from anyone that has now hit both. The G LS Tec has my attention but only if they've improved the acoustics.

Much appreciated.

I found it launched one degree higher than the G30, just as Ping claimed.

GENTS! Huge news!!!! Hit both today at Golftown and I'm calling the shot...Ping G is a Massive upgrade for 2 reasons:

1. The sound is unreal. Much more muted and definitely solid feeling. Still the patented "Ping" noise when nutted, but vastly improved. Hit both heads for an hour and couldn't tell the difference acoustically whatsoever. LST guys are going to go crazy for the "hot melted" sound and the G is equally as good.

2. Both models launch incredibly well. I have a +AOA and actually hit the LST higher than the G standard by about a degree, but couldn't get the LST spin above 2000 with the 9 degree head.

I'm going to try and get a 10.5 LST to try out and see if I can get a few more yards, but please see my numbers below. This was with the standard G with the Tour 65x.

As a point of reference yesterday I hit a 10.5 G30 on Flightscope with the Tour 65x and carried it 275 average and smash factor for 20 shots 1.49, ball speed was about 158-160 average and about 14 launch with 2500 spin, with great dispersion.

I hit my G30 with the same shaft in the sim as a comparison and it was way quieter...even the staff commented on the vastly improved acoustics.

I don't doubt you, although i hit both outside with the same shaft and did not notice a difference.....I have noticed in other reviews that some say they sound the same and some say they sound different......Different heads?

Does the G LS sit way open like the G30 LS?

They looked identical to me when I set them side by side.

Looked great!

Felt great!

Beat my G30 LS by a few yards!

Winning formula for me... 9 degree (digital) already on order!

I have been fit for the G LS Tec with the stiff Tour 65 shaft, aqua grip... I am confused by a few things on their website as it says the swing weight is D4 at a stock shaft length of 45.75" but then it says the tour 65 and tour 80 shafts are cut to a std 45.25"

Do you know what shaft length your order is coming in ?

I suppose I could just order D3 swing weight at 45.25" to match my i25 but will the results be that different

I play DI at 45.25 and ordered with D4 swing weight. Same way I ordered G30 and it came perfect.

Can you give us a more detailed review..or just post it on ATMG. I'm sure a few of us want to read about your findings :taunt:

Short version:

G LS looks, sounds and feels better than G30 LS. I never liked any of those with G30, but performance has kept it solidly in my bag.

With my same shaft; G was carrying about 3-4 yards further than G30. Not enough to make a difference, but for above reasons it's going in the bag... Cause the extra length doesn't hurt.

My only concern was smash of G was lower then G30 with mishits. However, the head I hit was not a full production model, so chances are that will change with the final product.

G appeared to be slightly less fade biased then G30. My fitter believes G has less side spin, therefore cutting down on both draws and fades. I always struggled to turn G30 over, so if G goes less right and left, I'm ok with that.

Spin and launch were about the same, picked up about 2mph of club head speed, which is where the extra carry came in.

G is a nice evolution, as mentioned, sound, feel and looks are my only real reasons for making a move. As long as its not shorter or less forgiving, its on Team G-Bone 2016.

Doesn't that seem like a lot of carry for an average of 152 ball speed?? I concur with your comments on the driver, though!

His launch is quite a bit higher?

Nope, juiced LM again.

Always hard to compare numbers when the drivers were hit on different monitors on different days. Would like to see the comparison of both drivers on the same monitor at the same time. But yes, 152 ball speed is not going to carry 280 no matter how optimal the launch angle and spin numbers are.

I can assure you that my numbers on Flightscope were nearly identical the day before.

FWIW I average 1.49 smash on TrackMan and Flightscope religiously.

I checked the boost setting and there was nothing added.

I won't debate though, it's WRX so take it with a grain of salt, and enjoy the driver for yourself.

The way that I look at it is, and I hear a lot of people say that as long as you compare it to your existing club, then it's irrelevant because it's all relative, personally I don't agree entirely with that, because if it's established that the numbers are wrong, then how can we compare anything. And if we know one number is wrong, then I don't trust any of them. Anyway, this isn't another thread about jacked launch monitors I guess, so sorry for derailing things a little there guys.

I hope the person that posted these numbers gets a good deal and he is happy with anything he buys, Apologies again!

My total distance nos with an avg 152 mph ball speed in summer is 280-282 yards with about 245/250 carry (real life using myroundpro etc)... that is using 11* launch and altitude = 55 ft, temp = 72F, hard fairway

Do golf-shop LM's factor in wind, temp, altitude, club drag coefficients etc because then they can be juiced. I notice on 3 different golf shop LM's and my own LM that I get SS higher than I can attain in the real world but really the comparison is current 1 wood to prospective 1 wood.

Golfsmith launch monitors are not accurate, I've read it gets worse with extremely low spin shots. I don't bother doing anything but checking out looks and feel when I'm there, and comparisons can wait for course or Trackman. I posted some very optimal 1.5+ smash numbers with my g30 lst last page if you want to check out what's normal for that BS.

Good stuff, know when they are getting fitting heads in? I already committed to buying one in order to roll over shop credit so it will definitely see the course for me too.

I shouldn't have posted that, either. It wasn't meant with malice. I love the look of the G, in particular the ls tec sets up awesome. I'm going to order the 9 with some hot melt and have a hzrdus uncut waiting for her.

You won't need hot melt at all friend, unless it's for SW purposes...

I was thinking SW, as I play them at 44.75, but I guess I don't really know.

I can tell you that my normal ball speed with my G30 is 158-161 on Flightscope. But I agree with you :)

Do shops have the G clubs available for demo?

I'm asking the same question.

More specifically, anybody know of shops in New York City or Long Island that have demos or even just heads to look at?

Tried Golfsmith on 54th St. but no luck.

Do PGA SuperStores have them yet?

Can't comment on NY but the Golfsmith here in Cleveland (Beachwood) location had all the G demos yesterday when I was there.
