Portland area course conditions

We're close to 3 feet here at Pronghorn. Been plowing on the tractor all week, Monday it was falling faster than we could plow and that was with 3 tractors, 2 big Deere's, a snow blower and 3 trucks with plows on the front. We don't have any more places to stack the snow.

Ugh, I was holding out hope that East of town didn't get hit quite as hard as we did here on the west side. Sounds like my wish didn't come true. My guess is we won't be playing in Central Oregon before March 20th or so...

Finally able to get out for a round with DeNinny at Heron Lakes! Beautiful day at last, and the Green course was in very good shape. Fairways were soft, but not squishy at all, no real swampy spots. We were pleasantly surprised, given the rough February weather. Greens were as good as could be expected.

The worst of it, as usual, was all the geese droppings, but even those were mostly dry and manageable.

Anybody been out to Tualatin CC recently? Might be headed out to play there with a buddy soon. I haven't played the course in a long time but absolutely loved it in the past, I think it's one of the best in the region. Any members here or anyone played it lately? Curious what's going on out there and how the course is looking?

Played both the public championship courses in Medford this week. Both are in ideal although tough scoring condition. Fairways are firm and fast, greens aren't even making ball marks and are pushing 10 stimp. Both (Eagle Point and Centennial) will aerate the end of the first week of April, so anyone that's still under snow....

played glendoveer today. they've really done a good job since the last time I played it. greens are MUCH improved. they actually rolled without bouncing and jumping around and at a fair pace. fairways had grass, and for those that have never played it, the fairways tend to have some bare spots. but the greens, I was very surprised. wife out of town and was able to get 36 in, in 4:53. drainage still leaves something to be desired as a pretty heavy shower moved through and it was noticeably soggy. however, by the 10th hole, the greens were good to go again. they have also inserted some plastic cup liners. really kept the hole in nice shape.

Langdon today for the Bandon Hangover Round.

Course was in very good shape. The fairways are healed from the aeration and greens almost so. Perfect weather and very little wind. Rough is a little long and stays damp, but is more or less playable. No soft spots at all in the fairways or surrounding turf.

Bunker work is progressing. Most of the bunkers that are being changed to the turf-based are pretty well grown in. There are drain lines still across a huge swath of 18 fairway and they seem to have filled in the fairway bunker on that hole as well. Good news for me. I don't end up there very often, but it looms in my mind on that tee shot, especially when the wind is from the North.

All in all a nice round and very pleased with the course condition.

If I lived up that way I would definitely take you up on it. Too long of a commute for me

Played a ProAm this week with a nice guy from PDX. He's a member of PGC out near Beaverton. I've been working on a trip to come up and play the private side of Pumpkin, probably meet up and play PGC, maybe hook up with mallrat to get out to Langdon, and get over to BirdieFinish and hit some balls with Jari to check on some shafts. We even debated a sprint up to Chambers one day, but we have to be back in Bend on Sunday evening for a concert at Les Schwab.

Anybody played Portland Golf Club? I'm assuming, looking at it on a map, that we need to wait until after a month of dry weather.

They started cutting it Monday and cut the 1st cut for the first time this year. That rain just made the grass grow like crazy. Played it Monday and greens were rolling really well but pretty soft.

Langdon on Sunday.

All of the bunkers they were renovating are done and back in play. Also, they removed the boards from the bunker on 6. Just noticed that this time around. Most of the rest of the bunkers have had their edges sharpened and generally spruced up.

The filled in fw bunker on 18 is almost completely grown in, and there are still ropes to keep folks off the drain lines that are running across 18 fw

Other than that, the course is in primo shape.
