Adams Fast12ls vs current drivers. Am I missing out?

Hi all,

I currently play the Fast12ls with Fubuki Alpha, overall I am happy with what it offers me BUT am I missing out on new tech by playing an older driver? I generally only buy used, generally great value and often mispriced, but I have an itch to demo some newer offerings.

As the title suggests, will I be gaining significantly by playing one of the latest driver offerings?

Cheers

Craig

Fast 12LS still one of the best drivers ever. I still have "memories" of being in certain spots on the course that I've only been a few times since. If you can hit it consistently, keep using it.

I'll echo these comments. It's as long as anything but not the most forgiving. I'm not saying it's Ping i15 unforgiving, but it's not Ping g30 forgiving, that's for sure.

Some flavor of the month driver.
Some driving iron for Links courses.

A hybrid to save my bad shots.
Titleist blades when I feel lucky otherwise something more forgiving.
A Vokey wedge or 2.
I hate every one of my 17 putters.

Thanks guys, I'll agree that it is long. I have hit my longest drives with this driver but I am prone to low knuckling snap-hooks with it on occasion. Though that might be me more than the club. Any suggestions regarding something as hot but with more forgiveness?

You might be missing out on forgiveness but certainly not distance.

I finally gave up the fast12ls for a Ping G30, the ping is just more consistant on poorer swings and although the fast12ls was longer on perfect hits, the ping might be longer if you're not swinging well.

Agreed. Only difference with new clubs is forgiveness by keeping the ball speed up on off center hits.

I'm not a great ball striker but the fast12LS is still in my backup bag.

I still have my R1 as well. Those two clubs for me at least are studs that can hang with today's clubs.

Although I didn't give the g30ls a good try out, I wonder would it be a better step on from the fast12ls, I think it would be more forgiving than the fast12ls anyway.

But when I tried the normal g30 and it worked so well, I just didn't want to mess around for a few more yards.

G30ls is now on my radar to demo vs the Fast12ls. Only downside is that they are VERY pricey down here is South Africa - Rand/ Dollar exchange rate is in the toilet!

Good choice, the LS is great.

There have been a bunch of threads on this driver, ball speed, forgiveness...etc

This is a low spin super hot head. Are there others out there, yet, even older versions of Adams that folks ask the same thing about moving to your driver...9015d ring a bell?

I personally have found a few driver heads that are just as hot or hotter, but straighter and even less spin.

SLDR is the closest feel to the F12ls IMO. My longest consistent combo is the M1 with a Speeder TS 661.

i used to play the fast 12 ls and switched to the bio cell +. similar distance, better feel, and little more forgiveness. you could probably find it for a pretty good price too

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Good deals on the Bio Cell +, Fly Z + and 815 DBD at the moment - I'll throw these in the mix along with the G30LS.

The XCG7 Beta is also lower spin than the F12LS (personal experience).

Of course, not everyone needs the same level of spin reduction. :)

For a while in 2015, I put the F12ls back in play, had good results with it. It still spins a bit too much for me, but it's a quality club; if it fits you, you're in good shape using it.

I have been playing a Fast12 LS for about six years, and still game it. Have a couple heads for backup as the one I'm gaming is getting longer and longer...making me thing it will break soon.

Mine has a Matrix 6M3 from a newer Super LS, cut down to 44.5". Only thing I've hit that is longer is the Adams 9064LS, however it is far less forgiving.

However, I have not compared it to anything else in the past three years...because simply put...why fix what is not broken?

last 3 years the spin model of the drivers changed alot. but depending on your own launch conditions, the new low spin models might not be that different from your own fast12ls.

even from sldr onwards, we have seen low forward cg with increasing forgiveness.

so yeah, you are likely to pick up some advantage, but is it worth the extra money

UPDATE:

Hi all, I ended up sticking with Adams. I grabbed myself a 10.5* XTD Ti with the stock Red Tie. I haven't had the chance to hit it yet, course or range or LM, but if it isn't an improvement then I have the 12LS as back up. There is just something about the pre-TM Adams equipment that I gravitate towards.

Thanks for all the comments.

Cheers

I too have a love for Adams. I have recently replaced my Jetspeed 3h and 3 wood for Adams XTD Ti's with the stock Red tie stiff shafts - they feel so much better than the stock shafts in my Jetspeeds. I also have recently got right on the nerves of my local American Golf staff by going in there and testing out all the latest drivers and buying none. None of them felt as good or were as forgiving for me as my Adams Speedline Super S with Kuro Kage 60g S flex shaft. Adams gear is ace and available so cheap in the UK. Winner.

Funny, that is the exact change I made. Fast12LS to the XTD-ti. I do think my Fast12 was abit longer, but I'm a few years older now too. I do very much like my XTD's- I have the 9 degree driver, 15 degree 3 wood and 2 hybrids. Not even thinking about a change (for awhile, at least...).
