Thanks for doing this, your input is amazing! I play a lot of golf with guys trying to make it and it is always fascinating to hear the details. I followed you on twitter and look forward to watching.

Just wanted to point out that the Colorado Open this year got a new sponsor and is paying out 100K to first place for a state open...

Good luck with everything, seems like your attitude is on point.

Think you meant 100k purse

Nope 100k for first 250,000 purse

They're hoping to get a bunch of the web guys as the purse will be in the right neighborhood to make that worthwhile.

Hey man, I'm wondering what your take is on something. A lot in the lpga, caddie lines up all their shots (player addresses the ball and the caddie tells them to inch a little left or right or whatever). I think this is kind of bs and shouldn't be allowed. What do you think?

There are guys at this event who do that as well. I've had my college coach during my college days line up my putter face. I think caddies are a tool us pros use and its just another way for pro golfers to use the tools they are allowed on the golf course. Great question.

Matthew is only 4 strokes out of top 16

Winds are calmer earlier again and he has an early tee time

Go low Matthew!

How many spots are there? Is it 16?

Matt's Tee Time today is 7:33am (Pacific), currently there are 18 players are 1 under or better (top 16 get a card)

--> http://www.pgatour.c...eaderboard.html

So lower scores were shot earlier?

Looking at the players at 1 under par or better; Here is the tee time split from yesterday:

~ 14 started before 10am

~ 4 started after 10am

The medalist get exemption for entire year.

Top 16 and ties gets exemption to first reshuffle (4 events I believe)

Top 40 get conditional exemption which doesn't really get squat.

Hi all, I am down here watching, Megan (Matthew's sister is carrying the bag).. Yes it was windy in the afternoon so he had it for the whole round except it died down around 530 which was nice because hole 18 is tough and wind can make it real tough. He does have an early am today which is nice. Starts on back. To me the back is much harder. His friend Tyler Light shot +6 on the back yesterday and then -5 on the front, he was in AM. Matthew's back is bugging him a bit, no excuses, but it was obvious (at least to me). His wonderful girlfriend found a sports massage place so we set him up for one at 1:30 today to hopefully help it to get looser and feel a bit better.

I just peeked out the door, there is a small hotel here on site and it looks calm so thats good. Thanks for giving him all the support..

One of the afternoon low rounds was by John Chin he is a local and knows course very well. Kind of like the advantage Matthew had last year when Q school was in Lompoc.

Anyone who can send good vibes, prayers, karma, what have you.. Matthew needs it. He has been struggling with a back issue all week. Seriously bad timing. We got a sports massage guy to work on him yesterday and he was able it ID the muscles that are the problem. For you anatomy lovers - Quadratus Lumborum, Illiopsoas and Glute minimus and medius, all very involved muscles with the golf swing. They are super tight and he is having pain, the tightness is causing him to not be able to swing loosly and freely so today after a swing when he felt a bad twinge he started to basically after impact move left and not hold the follow thru both for fear of more pain and because holding it hurts more than doing that. He is gutting it out, no choice, hard to watch though for me. Hot tub, ibuprofen, icy hot all in use, also lots of stretches. He is seeing out chiro next week and hopefully that will right the ship but for now it won't help tomorrow. Need a small miracle..

Well I guess at least it's muscular, I'm sure it still hurts but they heal. Thanks for the update. And you can give him a good batch of ibuprofen, you can be a tad more liberal with if than you think. We wish him the best

Well shoot, round was going great, -3 thru his first 8 holes, bogie on 18 but the majority of the field makes bogey there or double.. Super tough hole in wind with a stupid pin. Easy par on 1, bunker save on 2 and par save on 3 to stay at -2. Just missed birdie on 5 and a hickup on 6 for bogey. Just missed birdie on 7, brutal 2 putt to save par on 8 with a GREAT lag putt. Then devastation on the last hole. All three tee shots in group were off fairway. Matthew's was above a bunker in an awkward lie, he hit it not realizing it was in somewhat of a hole so it didn't come out well at all and trickled in the tiny hazzard that went across the fw.. Drop and he is super far back from a tucked pin at back of green. Went for it, looked good but came up short in the bunker. Was unable to get up and down to save bogey and made a double. In that one hole he went from T22 to T41, although when all scores were said and done he ended T32 with conditional status.. I can't even describe the disappointment and frustration that this caused. Golf is cruel. He will have to come up with a game plan and he may or may not get in some events with his Web status. Lots of decisions to try to figure out. He will be flying to NC Friday and try to Monday Q and is staying with one of our own WXR's who was gracious enough to offer to host him and caddy..... So kind. Maybe he will bring him the little bit of luck he needs. :)

I'm not sure about the luck part but I'll do what I can to help Matt while he is here in NC.

Someone asked about what courses in NC, Agatha started the answer, here is some additional information for those that are interested.

~ Pinewild Country Club (Magnolia Course) -- Par 72 -- 7446 yards -- Yardage Book

~ Legacy Golf Links -- Par 72 -- 7004 yards -- 3D Flyover
