Dubai is becoming the golf destination for the Middle East

Went to Dubai and played 4 magnificent courses. Emirates Majlis and Wadi Courses. Arabain Ranches(formerly known as the desert course), The Montgomerie Course and Dubai Creek. All four facilities are top notch and on top of beautifully manicured and cared for golf courses the hospitality and the amenities at each facility is second to none. Pace of play was awesome and the way you are treated there is outstanding. Anyone travelling to the UAE must make a point to play one of these facilities if not all.

The courses do look excellent, but they do look pretty expensive.

Did you get get on easily or do you have to book well in advance or as part of some holiday package?

Also, I wouldn't fancy playing in Summer when the temperature goes past 40deg C!

There's a reason golf was invented here in Scotland where the sun shines for 20 mins max per day!

If you go to the motngomerie.com they have a stay and play package for about $300 per twosome. It is hot as others have mentioned but I found it well worth it. I hope this helps.

KT I had no problem getting on at most of the courses. The hardest one to get on was the emirates majlis course as it was just after the dubai desert classic. Other than that I was able to call a couple of days in advance and get pretty decent tee times. Also keep in mind that tigers course will be opening there in Dubai sometime late 2008 early 2009. They say it is going to be a magnificent course. :bad:

I live in Qatar and have played Dubai's top courses (Emirates, Creek, Monty) many times. Dubai is without question THE place to golf in the Middle East - and quite possibly, all of Asia - if not now, then it will be once all the new courses have been developed. I've heard that Dubai is building "Golf City", which will emcompass 6 new courses surrounding a new 5 star hotel. Is this true?. The unfortunate thing is that it is not cheap to play, most courses are in the $200 USD range to play 18. The one upside is that you are treated like a VIP.

Abu Dhabi has a nice course as well. The club house is without a doubt, the biggest, most spectacular I've ever seen anywhere in the world.

Qatar's course, is easily the most challenging golf course in the whole middle east, especially when the wind blows. Unfortunately, its the only course in town. Because of this, very few people visit Qatar for golf. (If I didn't live here, I most definately wouldn't be coming here to play just one course.)

They didn't ask me for proof and I am an 11 and I played with someone who is a 36 handicap. The only thing you have to do is maintain the pace of play with the group in front of you. Once you fall behind they zero in on you and tell you that you are having a bad day and that you may want to come back another time. If that happens to you then that is their way of telling you that you are done for the day and you don't get a refund. My advice is if you are at double par for the hole pick up and move on.

    • In-hand photos of 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD drivers + fairways woods
Check out our front page launch stories here and here.

What you need to know: For the first time, carbon is the most prevalent material by volume in a TaylorMade driver, and more carbon equals better performance, says the company. Last year, TaylorMade debuted a 60X Carbon Twist Face. With TaylorMade Stealth 2, engineers are bringing carbon to more of the golf club — and unveiling a new-and-improved Carbon Twist Face in the process. Stealth 2 Plus (low spin, most workable) Stealth 2, and Stealth 2 HD (draw bias, high launch, most forgiving) drivers make up the Stealth 2 family.

What you need to know: Breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs are the hallmarks of the 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Stealth 2 Plus is branded as “three fairway woods in one” owing to the unique performance characteristics afforded by the 50-gram sole weight. Stealth 2 features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown than Stealth. This moves CG down and away from the toe with more weight in the rear of the club for higher launch and MOI. Ultra-high MOI Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and low-profile sole, creating an easy-to-hit, draw-biased club.
