If people stop buying the flippers shoes, the nonsense will stop. They really need to all be destroyed. Then again, Nike and other manufacturers feed into it, and encourage it by limiting supply. They learned from the idiotic Supreme model. There are no shoes, ever, that, in reality, would ever be in short supply unless a manufacturer did it intentionally. There's absolutely nothing special going on in these shoes.

100 % agree.  
 

my 12 year old is a sneaker head.  I was in my youth in basketball and even track and I guess the bug  maybe trying to rebite me now , but this nonsense turns me off.  
 

I had this convo with my boy as I drove him to school today.  About the drop yesterday and how I missed out.  And he says “ if Nike  isn’t in on it , why don’t they just make more shoes and sell them “?   From the mouthes  of babes I think is the saying.  
 

I don’t get it either.  If they aren’t pro resell , why don’t they just make enough of non limited releases to satisfy the demand at $220?

You guarantee the stock you produce sells out. I mean, why make too many that don’t end up selling? It seems reasonable to say, business-wise, if we produce X, we guarantee we’ll make $Y and just move on. Limited builds hype, guarantees selling, they move on and we keep wanting more.

Also, limited manufacturing capacity. It probably takes 5x the time to manufacture an AJ4 golf ($220) than it does a Nike Tanjun ($65). Then it unfortunately becomes a simple math problem.

I guess. I just think they limit their audience too.  I’m a guy who isn’t going to pay double for these.  I’ll do without.  And it’s not that I’m cheap ( see my bag ). It’s that I won’t feed the problem.  
 

I think part of it that gripes me too is that I’m OG when it comes to these shoes. I played ever single one on the court whne they first came out.  From the jordan IV to 7 then skipped up to the concord in red and a pair in white , then first penny hardaway with several Reebok pump iterations in between.  I worked kid jobs to buy those.  I supported the trends birth.  Small but true. And now fast forward to adult times with adult money and I have to fight like a Godzilla mom over the last cabbage patch Doll at k mart to get a pair ,    Or pay an extortion fee.

and before somebody whines about my whining.  I get it.  $ talks.  I’m just saying I can’t but into it .  My opinion is that Nike could gross more raising the price to $250 and making enough stock to drive the resellers out , vs this plan which sees a limited audience. Especially in golf shoes.  I mean holy crow.  There aren’t that many of us out there really.  We just all congregate here.

No it’s cool. I get worked up.     I’m usually the guy who forgets or somehow has internet issues and misses out. This time it was a clean transaction, and I still got rejected. Such is life.  I’ll live.

The scarcity is what drives the demand in many cases - see the ADG vs the "limited release."  Obv more factors than that, but FOMO is a powerful thing 🙂

Don’t sleep on V’s. IMO they are comfortable and one of my favorite releases. I have most colorways and love em for my wide feet

Folks -- Anyone "pre-treating" the mesh tongues of your Jordans? The mesh tongues on my other Nike shoes trap dirt from the course pretty easily, and they don't clean up after the fact very well. Just wondering if there's anything to be done (like Scotch Guard or something) that mitigates the dirtiness, or if it's best to just try to tackle the dirt sooner than I have been.

These are his own model. He has been wearing them for several years. No public release of them.

Lot's of products will work.  Scotch Guard is your quick and dirty solution.  But products Reshoevn8r and Crep are better from my experience.  The only problem is the effect tends to wear off, so you want to respray every 10-15 wears depending on how much you beat up your shoes.  

 

Also for cleaning are you using a soft bristle brush?  For deep dirt on shoes that a brush can't get to, I toss them into the wash.

The underlay of the top of the tongue on the golf 4s is synthetic leather as opposed to the mesh found on basketball/lifestyle 4s. Same goes for the side panels.

I'm specifically asking regarding the ADG1s (and the various React Vapor 2s I have). Mesh on these, and it traps the dirt and gets discolored pretty quickly...

Yes, I've used a soft bristle brush (and have also tossed LC4s into the washer). The uppers clean up nicely, but the mesh tongues (under the laces) can be a real PITA.

gold old-fashioned elbow grease, soft brush and soapy water after each round has gone A LONG WAY in keeping my Js looking new and fresh, even the ones I've had for a few years now. tossing into the washer is a non-starter for me - i wouldn't be able to explain that to the missus nor do i want to! 😂
