These are fake... Right?

So I got some New Decades off eBay. I open the box and they just look wrong. I have an extra one from Golf Galaxy that I used to compare with ....

 

The one on the left is from GG. It's a completely different color.

 

 

 

The stitching is way more prominent on the GG one too.

 

 

 

There's an "r60" etched inside the one from GG. Nothing on the inside from the eBay one.

I've heard the etching/stamp on the inside of the grip is the best way to tell if they are authentic. So without that, you would have to think they are fake.

The legal definition of "counterfeit" or "forgery" is when something is passed off as original or authentic when it's not. If he said they were Golf Pride (obviously they arent) then he committed a crime.

I'm going to disagree on this... if he bought them knowing they were knockoffs, that is one thing. But in this case the counterfeiter went to the trouble of putting "golf pride" on the grips and even including the proper bar code on the grip, so it is obvious the seller is trying to mislead the buyer into thinking they are buying authentic golf pride grips. So, aside from the fact that the counterfeiting is illegal, the seller is also lying to the buyer about what they are buying.

Agreed, if you want to buy a product that is fake, you can go onto some of those Chinese sites and buy them for much cheaper that somebody on eBay who gets them from China cheap, but charges the customer only a same amount less than the genuine ones.

I am not Golf Pride's biggest fan, but I would send them pics and an email of the exchange. If they (GP) want the grips, I'd send them and file a PP dispute.

I detest scammers and they are obviously trying to dupe people while intentionally not stating that they are Golf Pride grips.

But since you got obvious counterfeit grips that say "golf pride" on them, I'd say you definitely should file a case with ebay, paypal, and golf pride cause this person definitely knows they they are selling fakes.

I would say the seller is very intentional about misleading the buyer with a very thin vale of CYA, but he does mention Golf Pride in the Advertisement and he uses the term New Decade Multi-Compound. I would have to assume GP trade marked the Multi-Compound name in reference to golf grips.

I was just kidding. I bought an Eyeline putting mirror off the bay from China, and they sent a horrible knockoff that did not even have the holes for a tee gate. I called them out and the immediately refunded the cost and told me to keep it. Best of luck to you...
