There was a mess of 'em at a local GW here last year as well. Always check eBay for general idea. Some are worth far more than others.

That's the very first Lynx iron from the 1970s, so Wishon wouldn't have been involved yet. His Lynx designs were from when Golfsmith owned the brand in the late 1990s.

The Maltby guide says these were designed by John Riley in 1971, and were available in this form through 1978. The very similar successor model had the distinctive raised Lynx cat head logo on the back.

appreciate the update on the design and dating.

after I found the set last week with R shafts and Avon Chamois grips. revisited the same store a couple days ago and there was the matching SW and another 8 and 9I with the same Chamois grips.

added a Boom Boom 3W to those and all went into a really nice vintage Lynx stand bag.

there's a par 3 course nearby that's begging for a tryout with this set come spring.

The majority of my clubs came from thrift stores last year. So far for gamers I've found:

Snake Eyes 695 3 wood (my new favorite 3 wood), Titleist 975J Driver, Ben Hogan 3 CFT Hybrid, Ping Karsten I 1 iron, Ping Eye iron set 2-SW, TaylorMade T.P.A. X putter (8802 style), and Ping Zing putter.

I found a few others (King Cobra 5 & 7 woods, Adams Tight Lies 3 wood) but only use those on the range for fun.

I'll add photos when I can.

the Ping Orange dot iron is a flat lie, I think by about two and a half degrees. made for a short player or it might be able to be adjusted to standard (black) lie for the masses.

the Wilson items should have some appeal.

Yeah you found some really good stuff. The Muirfield PW by itself is as rare as Hen's Teeth. I actually sent one to Virginia a month or so ago to a friend on another site to fill out his set. The Armour Ironmaster WOW!!! love those things can't putt worth a hoot with those things but love them anyhow. The sleeper of the whole bunch is the Pedersen putter they made some quality equipment back in the 50s and 60s----- Betcha if you putt with it you will find it has an outstanding feel

Orange Dot is 2 degrees flat from that era.

Another possibility with a flatter lie Ping is to play them longer than standard. The lighter than standard heads allow longer than standard irons without the swingweight getting too high.

In my younger days I used a brown code Eye2 One Iron that was extended by 1.5 inches and had a swingweight of D6. It was good for 240 in the fairway nearly every time. I played a number of rounds where I never hit a wood at all in 18 holes. Since then, by neccessity, I have learned to hit a driver straight, although that is much easier than it used to be due to larger heads and less clubhead speed. It's not in the air long enough to leave the fairway.

I still have that One Iron, but it is resting comfortably and enjoying happy memories.

Back in the day I carried a K-1 Ping 1 iron--- Now in it's birth it was a black dot but of course I bent it up and had lead tape on it with a X-100 shaft. Still have it and the fact of even mentioning it makes my old tired worn out back hurt. I could hit it about 230 or so but could run it out 25 more yards. I can remember I was wild as heck with the driver and my old man said a many time if he could hit a 1 iron like I could that he would never carry a driver. The original course at Carmel CC in Charlotte was tight and short and I never hit a driver there. I still have that thing but I do have a Eye2 that is wussified so to speak it has a graphite HM-40 and no lead tape. I can still on occasion hit it around 200 but it ain't got the oompah of the old monster and neither does the guy swinging it ( me) Now days it is the little hot bullett screamer with GASP! a 20* Adams Hybrid

set of MacGregor Tourney M75 irons with decent heads, 2-9. very old wrap grips in poor shape that I stripped. the end caps say Flange Wrap. haven't tried to pop those off yet.

these two other clubs might be worthless, Troon Collection Driver and 3W. the driver is still shrink wrapped. sole is stamped Troon Collection, Advantage and TriSole. shaft label says "Troon Made. Macomb IL.

look like Cally clones.
