  • 3 weeks later...

Found these at goodwill one day before shelter in place order. I had no idea what they were but they were forged and in great shape so I bought them to try to sell. They sold on eBay in less than an hour. I regretted selling them and then got a notification that the buyer wanted to return them. Only the second time that’s happened to me and I’ve never been more happy. ? Now we will see if he actually returns them.

I have a set of the Founders 200's 2-SW. Super sweet set of clubs. Miura forged....before most of us knew what the heck that meant. If you are a collector, hang on to them. You got lucky they are sending them back. It's a very collectable set. Lots of threads on here about them.

Founders Club 200s. Yes indeed, hit them many times at 2nd Swing, in one of their since closed locations here. Quality clubs.

Have heard it said Lee Jansen played them when he was with Founders, but I don't know if that's true or just one of those rumored connections that float around the internet.

What don't you like about the look? They aren't the best looking set in my stable either. I think the grooves are too long, make the blade length appear too long. I have a set of Macgregor Pro-82 that are also forged by Miura and they are the same blade length. Because the grooves are not as long, they appear not as long... But, the 200 series are sweet to hit.

It's purely cosmetic for me. I quite vainly don't like the logo. I would keep them but I really wanted to use them to help pay for the Hogan Apex Plus Irons I just picked up on eBay. I've owned two Apex plus irons in the past and have been wanting a minty set for awhile. But, I wont' give them away. If I am forced to keep them and the range opens I would love to try them out. If someone is willing to pay a premium for a set in above average condition than great. They are worthy more to me as leverage to get what I want. They remind me of another iron set as far as shape is concerned but I can't place it. The shape is actually quite nice.

The Orlimar blades were similar to the Founders 200s. Could it be those?

They remind me of tigers old nike blades, or maybe some titleists. I don't know, those musclebacks look like a lot of other clubs from over the years.

Eh all, I had not been DD'ing in a a wihle (that's dumpster diving" for boxes but with the shutdown I needed boxes so went across town to the best spot. Didn't get much, but I did get a RBZ 9.5 Driver they had tossed. Had a weird break in the shaft in the grip area. I think I might re-shaft it up with something.

Absolutely true, Lee Janzen and Payne Stewart won the US Open in consecutive years playing different versions of Founders Club 200 series blades, with Janzen favoring a higher square toe grind and Stewart’s preference being a model shaped very similarly to Nike forged blades used by Duval to win Open Championship quite a few years later.

Was it a 100 yen or 1,000 yen starting bid auction, and yours was the only bid? I'm not sure I want to hear how little you paid for them!

Are you playing any golf at the moment? We're being asked to stay at home as much as possible, but the courses are open. I haven't practised in weeks, but I have played...

I know Osaka's had some clusters, but I haven't seen Kyoto pop up in the news yet.

Actually got out to play yesterday. Decided to go back to a course we haven't played in a while and it was dissapointing. Nice to be out. Some really nice holes, but it was just too tricked up, too narrow and too slow. My father in-law was talking to me about how golf has changed (we were going to do through play with no lunch in the middle) and it was the same. Sat for lunch in a club house full of other people and it was 6 hours or so. I guess I should be thankful... Took out the Pro82s and they were really nice. Hit the ball really high with the Precision 6.5s. On the back nine I hit the 3-iron off the tee nicely on a few holes, but hit 5 balls in the woods and I can't hit a pitch shot to save my life. I was between 10 and 50 yards on 3/4 par 5s in two and walked away 3 over. Fucking agony.

The deal I got on the Founders wasn't quite that good, but there was a Ashoworth driving range bag, a Founders Club judge fairway and a Fourteen 2+ iron as well.

Courses around here have been a bit slow to adapt. With some courses, their online booking page says players can choose a "through round" or have a lunch break after nine holes, but the actual reservation page only has options for the lunch-included rounds.

That said, the last course I played at was through only, and the restaurant, locker room, and bath were all closed. They had also lowered the cost of play to reflect the fact that lunch was no longer included. My only gripe is that it was still one cart only for every group. Still, the risk of infection from the cart isn't hugely high, and can be reduced further by carrying a little hand sanitizer around....if you can find some.

As for the golf, I had the some of the same problems as you. My short game was horrendous, particularly from 50 yards in, and I put it down to lack of practice. Strangely, while my tee shots were terrible, my iron play off the deck was really good.

This is hilarious. My wife’s friend knows I like getting golf clubs from Goodwill and she face timed me showing me this wedge. Face time flips images. I said “wow!! Great find. Buy it and I’ll pay you back.” She brought it to me and I just busted out laughing. Maybe I can learn to play left handed. Heck! It might be an improvement.
