Thrift Store Jackpot

A shame there wasn’t a 9i with them. The woods finish has aged so tha it looks like satin krinckle finish. She grips are in very good condition. You can still read Walter Hagen on then but the need cleaning. How is the best way to clean them? I hit a couple of the irons yesterday about as far as any others I have (which is not very far) a young man hit my RTJ 5 iron about as far as his brand new TITLEIST. I was in awe of how far he hit it with the original dynamic shaft

The Haigs look like they were played very little. A lucky find.

The TITLEIST irons show virtually no wear and have new premium Tacki Mac grips. I remember wanting a set like them when they first hit the pro shop.

The Powerbilt driver is super nice, just needs a little cleaning up. The pga 4 wood is just an everyday player.

The Tommy Armour are 845 oversized. Very good condition and the shafts look like they just a e out of the box.

There were several red button staffs there that day but not a set. I try not to buy individual clubs unless it’s something to good to pass up .

I know where the Key Hole Mac Driver and the Penna are at now------ In my living room Richard got them and sent them to me. I messed around too late and someone had gotten the Mac Jumbo. But thanks a million Richard--- Now if he could just find me a new back at the thrift store I would be in business

My daughter wanted some vintage clothes so we went to Goodwill a few weeks ago. Two bags of clubs were sitting outside. One was a junior set of Ping Moxie’s, the perfect size for my younger daughter. Like new for $15. The other bag had 3-9 iron and 3 wedges all excellent condition, Ping Eye 2 Orange Dots; Big Bertha War Bird Gems (driver, 3 and 5); Ping Pal 2 putter; Carbite ZM putter; a dozen new Callaway balls. $20!!! I paid as fast as I could for both sets. All too short for me and most are sold already.

I couldn’t believe my luck so I pressed it a little further and went back the next week. What was sitting out there in the same spot was a perfect looking red Ping Sunday bag. I walked up to it with great anticipation. As soon as I saw the Mizuno MP-14’s (amazing condition), I snagged it. Paid $35! There were two drivers and two putters in there as well but I didn’t know much about them... yet.

To be honest, I’ve been out of the golf game for a while and only started playing again a few months ago. These finds have really stirred things up for again and I’ve played more this summer than the last 5 years combined.

Back to the bag! The two drivers were a Ping G10 in awesome condition and a Ping TiSi which was pretty rough. The putters looked great but I know nothing about putters so I had to do a little research.

Putter 1- Bettinardi BB1F, midnight black!!!

Putter 2- Piretti Cottonwood 2, onyx!!!

I fell in love with the Piretti on the practice green. The Betti was a little short for me.

I traded the Bettinardi for a Scotty X7m which was my length. Maybe not a great trade but I was curious and ended up really liking the way I hit the Scotty. Now I need to either sell the Piretti or the Scotty and I can’t decide, they are very different but both work well for me. I’m going to keep the one that doesn’t sell first. Haha!

I really lucked out and went back a few more times but didn’t see any more clubs. I’ll keep trying, though. ?

Somebody's soon to be ex-wife was very p*ssed off. Great score Varga. And welcome to the world of thrift store treasures. Most of the time you strike out...but when you do find something, it's usually a home run!

Oh my!!!!!!! Fantastic score. You win the internets. The two putters alone. Have had many thrift store singles, even some home runs. But never back to back grand slams.

Club scrounging, thrift store junkie for life now. Trying to repeat the thrill.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Holy crap!!! I just ran out the the Goodwill and I’m in the parking lot now as I type. I saw a bag sitting out there but couldn’t find a parking spot which had me panicking! Got it!!! $25!

I didn’t even go through it but I think there are three Odyssey putters! I’m shaking
