Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm pretty similar to be honest. Since about July of last year my game has finally clicked (mostly driver became consistent) and when I'm driving the ball well I shoot 78-82....when its not, then 86-90. Luckily for me putting is my strongest part of my game so it saves me a lot of strokes.

Distance is my best attribute. As my driver goes so I go. If I can keep it tamed I can score fair. If it goes sideways I lose strokes rapidly. I made a grip change late spring last year that all but solved my hook problems and helped me get away from a two-way miss. It straightened my irons as well though moving the ball from left to right is still a challenge for me.

Just saw where Lexington county course are shutting down...https://www.kentucky.com/news/local/counties/fayette-county/article241555601.html

I played today at a local course and people were not following the 6-foot rule. Players were sharing carts and standing around close together. I hate to say it but maybe KY should shut down all courses

I played over the weekend at a somewhat local course and it was 1 person per cart. But myself and 2 of the other 3 decided to walk. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but did get a little tired by Hole 17. I did notice that the 4some of older guys (60+) behind us didn't really adhere to the Social Distancing though...SMH.

My local course has a 1 person limit, 1 person in the clubhouse at a time, flipped the cups, etc. Which I applaud them for that. But, I also imagine a time when everything gets shut down if it gets as bad as other areas of the country....and I'd be ok with that for this virus to get out of here.

They are griping about the local CC here on the book of face. A few holes are easily seen from the road and the general public sees 5 old men on the greens.

Instituted no more guests, one per cart unless you live in the same household, clubhouse closed, pro shop closed, no rakes, cups have pool noodle chunks in them to prevent the ball from going in the cup.

Ha, Hunting Creek in Louisville made the news for this same shit... someone from the street took a picture and you couldn't accurately gauge the distance between people... Bad look, but they weren't super close.

Now they just go into someone's back yard where no one can see them and the club doesn't get the alcohol revenue.

Looking at making a weekend trip sometime this Spring (April/May) to the Lexington area...looking at Cherry Blossom, Kearney Hill, Lassing Pointe and either Griffin Gate or one of the UK courses.  I've played Kearney like 3-4 times over the years and love the track, but any insite/input on the other courses?  I've heard great things about Cherry Blossom and one of the golfing mags lists Lassing as #1 in Ky to play (public).

Thanks in advance for any info.

Greetings all - I currently live in Virginia, but if everything goes as planned I will be moving to Lexington, KY in two weeks. I grew up around there & graduated from Paris HS, but have been away for about 30 years.

A cool thing is as a veteran green fees at Lexington city courses are only $12 & just $26 with cart. That is amazing compared to the golf prices in the DC area.

I just looked GolfWeek's list of top KY courses "You can play". I know two of these are in the Lexington, area....Kearney Hill and Cherry Blossom. Any feedback on any other courses in the Lexington area?

  • 1. Lassing Pointe, Union (m)
  • 2. Heritage Hill, Shepherdsville (m)
  • 3. Cherry Blossom GC, Georgetown (m)
  • 4. Kearney Hill Golf Links, Lexington (m)
  • 5. Wasioto Winds GC, Pineville (m)

Also, I would be cool to play with some KY GolfWRXers.

Heritage hills is up by Louisville, good track but not worth driving to. Cherry Blossom is a solid track, I played in last November and it was in good shape. Kearney Hill is usually in good shape too, and the best shape of any course in the area in the Winter months.

I played Heritage Hills once probably in 2017.  Good track. Took an hour+ for me to drive from Georgetown so I have never made it back.

Agree on Kearney Hill and Cherry Blossom are good tracks.

Big Blue is a nice track.  Wildcat is the weaker of the two by a good margin.

Eddie, follow the Golf Kentucky Links on the book of face and ask there.  There are a good number of folks from that direction that could help you on conditions.  It has been a long time since my only play there.

We played Barren two weeks ago.  The greens are in very, very good shape.  Fairway are dormant but all played very well too.  I was very surprised the condition it was in.  Everything very good with exception of no sand in the bunkers.  $36 for 18 with cart on the weekend is a great deal.  If it weren't for the storm that came through last Thursday and wrecked my yard and trees I would try and get out somewhere this weekend.

That's cool.  I haven't had a chance to play Barren this year as its been closed or really wet every time I've tried to play this year.  Where you from Smashdn?...you can message me if you'd like, could get a few guys together to play sometime.

How was Cherry Blossom?  I was able to finally play Barren River State Park yesterday & was in great shape especially for this early in the year.  Too bad we had 30+ mph winds all day which made the course play long & tough.

Park Mammoth redo?  Supposed to be really nice when completed and open sometime around 2021.  Anybody have any pictures?

I haven't seen it, but know someone who's been up there.  Says the owner wants to rival a lot of the country clubs in BG...so supposed to be on the upper end price wise.  Like in the $45-65 price range per round and membership in the $3,500+ range....at least what I've been told & am hearing from others as well.  Sounds like not going to open until the Fall of this year (August/September).
