So I am going to be in Shawano visiting family in July. Is it worth the drive from Shawano to play Sentry World? Also is there any other good golf courses I could hit in the Shawano area?

Sentry World is very much worth the drive. I played it for the first time after its facelift last year and thought it was excellent. Not the toughest course you will ever play off the tee, but second shots are into relatively smaller greens with the possibility for some real risk/reward pin placements. The greens are not diabolical, but they are all undulating in some form and were in excellent shape late last season. There is a resort/casino course outside of Green Bay where the LPGA will play in 2017. I've never been there, but it can't be a cow pasture.

Fantastic after the changes. Well-maintained with firm greens. Very walkable as well. Update your GPS device, if you use one.

Wisconsin is blessed with incredible golf given the short season length season, but I don't know that part of the state well.

Sand Valley is 70 miles north, but won't be open to the public this year. That will change golf tourism in WI dramatically.

Yes, yes and yes! Definitely worth the drive. I enjoyed it very much. I played it the Sunday that the PGA Championship was going on in Kohler. The course was in great shape, and the 19th hole is worth staying and having a few brews.

I've never played Sentry World, but I picked up the most kick-a** fireworks from the Indian reservation near Shawano.

Thornberry Creek and Brown County CC are both reasonably close and woukd be worth a look. I played both in the fall last season and they were in good shape. They are close to one anothe, not too far off of 29 as you get West of GB.
