I went to a club testing recently and all the tents had a tonne of people at them and the driving range was full. All the manufacturers were there, and the only one with nobody talking to them was the MacGregor rep... wanting to try a club - any club i went over there and tryed the driver then the fairway woods...

*I bought one - that day!

I bought the 5 due to it being neutral where as the 3 is one degree open.

This club is explosive off the face and i really like the multi-staged shaft.

I think people that swing for the fences may want something alittle firmer than the 3 and 4 stage shafts, however, i am very happy with the club, not just for its ease 4 off the tee but moreso for how easy it is to pick the ball off the fairway. It has very shallow face that (for me) makes it easier to hit from tight lies. All in all i think if you are looking for a fairway wood and want to try the usual suspects do yourself a favor and take the MacTec out as well- you may be surprised by the results... I sure was. :drinks:

I switched to MacTec 2 3 and 5 wood with stock fujikura regular flex shafts and these woods are solid , even on miss hits they have goos distance fly straight and have good trajectory , i had 906 f2's before these and i must say the Mac Gregors are better when i compared the 2 , straighter, longer and more forgiving

I had an NVG 2 three wood that I got for free with a driver purchase in Sept. I hit it fairly well but the distance was only a few yards longer than my MACTEC UT2 17* hybrid. I just got an NVG 2 Draw 15* three wood and it is a completely different animal. It's monstrous long off the tee, and very long and straight off the fairway...probably 15 yards longer than the standard NVG 2 three wood. Mine apparently does not have much draw bias at all as I have been hitting it straight or with a little fade on most shots. The club head itself is slightly different with a deeper face and the shaft comes in at the very back of the heel instead of slightly forward like the rest of the NVG line. The shaft is also different in that it feels more tip stiff. In my opinion the club is a big improvement over the original NVG and NVG 2. It can be had now for less than $100, which is a steal.

Anyone know the volume cc's on the NVG or NVG2? I've been told they are the same except for color. Does anyone know if this is true as well?

Volume is the same. Color changed (blueish to black) and the shaft color changed as well. With the Driver, however, there were significant changes (ti face insert to full ti cup-face). I have the NVG2 3 wood and an NVG 5 wood. Absolute cannons with the right shaft (Grafalloy Blue S in the 3 and DG SL in the 5) and rival, in my experience, the Tour Edge Exotics. Best part, I picked mine up for $39 each from the Golfsmith here in Austin. Spent more than that on the shafts, however.
