I'm playing Windswept Dunes Thursday morning, really looking forward to it.

In the best condition it's ever been in right now, on par with much more expensive courses in the area. Worth it to buy the yardage book when playing it for the first time.

Heading back to 30A in August for a couple weeks and have played most of the courses in the area but never made it out to Windswept Dunes, sounds like I may be missing something......tried to get a feel for the layout on Google maps and no idea how recent those pics are but looks like there's some development around the course. Does the course wind through subdivisions? Playing in "seclusion" is part of what I enjoy most about playing Camp Creek, that an the convenient 5 minute drive.

There are a few homes in the neighborhood, but none of them very close to the golf course. The course is wide open !

Camp Creek is a very nice golf course and a couple years back you could play for $75, which was a good price. No way would I pay the current price compared to the deal at Windswept Dunes.

Played a tournament at Regatta Bay yesterday. They've done some verti-cutting in the fairways and not all of it has healed up particularly well. Also have a couple greens that were re-sodded along their edges. Overall it's not bad, but something to keep in mind when making your choice of where to go.

I can speak to my exprience, but please keep in mind this was at the end of January. Started off with 36 at Signal Hill. Being from Kentucky, we hadn't had a lot of time to play prior to the trip due to cold weather. Signal seemed like the most logical course to get warmed up. They had some storms the night or so before we arrived so it was a swamp. Coondition-wise, it's the same as it's always been. The replay rate was worth it considering it was day 1. The second and third days we played Nicklaus and it was in excellent shape. We scored some Golfnow deals and decided to go back the next day. On the last day, we played Windswept Dunes on the way to the airport. I was excited to play this course based on the reviews on this board and suggestions from my neighbor. The tees and fariways were nice, but the greens were awful. The greens were nearly bare and it appeared they had dyed them green to mask it. Let me know if you have specific questions about any of these.

Sorry you had a poor experience at Windswept, but can confirm for others that their greens are back in good order.

I played Windswept Dunes in mid-July (think it was July 10 to be exact). Enjoyed the course: wide open fairways with mounding and 'fall offs' or swales from fairway down to rough/fairway bunkers the main issue off the tee. I felt like the green complexes were really the main "defense to scoring." There were tiers on many and some were elevated so getting a good club into the green and distance to the flag was important (not just middle of the green).

When I played, the greens were in nice shape I thought (decent speed but not overly fast; meet my expectations for Florida course in the middle of summer ... i always have trouble understanding how grain will impact putts and chips in FL).

My only negative was distance from our beach accommodations at WaterSound. FWIW, I preferred Camp Creek, even with the premium I had to pay to play it (double the price for 'double the experience' in my opinion). If you do go to Windswept, I would give yourself plenty of time ahead of your round ... the teeing ground at the range was nice and they had an expansive putting/chipping area that I didn't even get to use. Clubhouse and F&B were nothing to speak of, so you might plan on food elsewhere

Pick the right tees ... I played the middle at ~6,800 yards and it worked, but I definitely didn't want to play it any longer. Ended up playing the last few holes with a guy late 50s / early 60s (short-ish off the tee) and he was two tees in front of me; it seemed the right length for him.
