Bryson DeChambeau's new Cobra MB, CB irons: shot at 2016 RBC Heritage

Recommended Posts

From what the press release said, it didn't list irons, just the driver, woods, utility iron, and wedges. I'm wondering if the deal wasn't for irons given the goofiness.

It's a full bag deal minus the putter. Cobra is still tweaking his Proto irons.

Not sure what you're referring to with "Cobra is still tweaking his Proto irons" but the two sets that I shot on the Cobra truck at RBC Heritage are the only clubs that Cobra has made for Bryson. There aren't any other Proto irons to be tweaked and these two sets are ready to go.

That is what Cobras Twitter account stated when I asked about them.

I know the person who does their twitter account but I spoke with the Cobra Tour Rep today and he's the one who worked on Bryson's Cobra irons. No other prototypes out there.

Maybe you can find out from your contact what they are talking about on Twitter? Maybe tweaking means that Bryson is still putting them through their paces before he bags them in a big tourney?

To say that the new irons are still a being tweaked sounds much better than saying that Bryson is still not comfortable with the new irons, so I wouldn't read too much into the tweaking comment on Twitter.

Apparently the indian doesn't like slightly bent arrows. When (if?) Cobra duplicates Edel's feel, exactly, he'll make the switch. Looking at his one-off Edels, maybe Cobra has to increase the size/toe weight of the muscle.

I'm not reading to much into this at all, just reporting what was said about them from CPG.

If you would have just posted that you received your info from a Cobra Twitter response it would have saved a lot of posts. ;-)

The other day I was at the Edel studio working on my putter. Bryson's clubs that he used to win the Us Am and the NCAA we there. I swung the sand wedge and it felt so good. Same stance as the 7 iron. I believe they were 70 degrees up and the set he used at the masters I seem to recall were 77 degrees. The clubs were heavy and he uses the extra large jumbo. I play the small jumbo

That is awesome. I'll be at the Edel studio in 3 weeks for a fitting...granted I'm a lefty so swinging his irons won't have the same effect, ha!

Those lie angles are absolutely incredible. Great work by Cobra to swingweight them properly without compromising aesthetics. I had a 3 iron that looked like that once, unfortunately it was from self inflicted damage after a poor shot.

While these seem nice and I respect the amount of work that went into crafting them, I preferred the mad scientist look of his last set of Edels, to be honest. The crazy, custom one-off look just seemed to fit his persona more than a clean set of irons.

I agree 100%....the Edel's looked like he grabbed them at a yard sale and went medieval on them - with a blow torch and a pair of pliers...

Is the fitting system ready to go already?
