I live in Hoboken. I've gone to Staten Island every weekend. I've walked around in both places. Hoboken's mayor has responded in a completely overblown way and is teetering on militant, so I avoid this place outside of working hours. I have also generally ignored the curfews and have not had an issue to date.

NYC is the epicenter, NJ and LI are victims of the transient nature of commuting.

Ziggy - I think the key is you don't want people congregating at tee boxes due to backups so you spread out the tee sheet more than normal. Think about all of these older, potentially out of shape folks walking when they always ride. Could be some slower rounds. I sympathize with you on not being able to practice. I just moved to Monmouth County in late 2019 after 9 years in Hoboken. Now I have room to practice in my yard, chip and take full swings, and have a large putting mat in my house. Wouldn't have been able to do any of that if I was still in my small Hoboken apt.

It has nothing to do with science, and everything to do with the optics as viewed by a super progressive governor. Does he want to deal with the parks and basketball courts being closed in Newark and Elizabeth while TV shows the typical country club golfer exiting his BMW and enjoying himself on a golf course?

And then once courses, ranges and stores like PGATSS re-open, people will flock into them because of the huge demand/desire created by total lock down, which then greatly increases the risk of a 2nd big wave. Either way we don't win, and in both scenarios we are at risk unless the governor is willing to leave everything shut down until nearly 100% of NJ residents are vaccinated or deemed immune.

Yeah the optics are changing here on LI too. The private courses are open since last weekend but, the publics are not. But, if you are a privately owned public(there are about 6 on LI) they are now open too . Oh, yeah, and the Town of Oyster Bay course is open too (rebels! ) Everyone seems to hint they will open in May which is a week away

Just got an email from Bethpage that they are opening for golf on Monday, so perhaps the courses just north of NJ will reopen as well.

nothing from yet from our inept governor. not sure where you live, but it might be best to go to PA or NY to play. I'm in Morris County and its about a 45min drive to Suffern/Pearl River to play

Bedminster here. I think if word comes out that we'll be closed all of May, I'll make the ride out to PA. I can't go twoplus months with out hitting balls... Let alone playing.

Well the way Murphy is reigning supreme probably not till next year.

Feels unlikely that NJ opens before May 15 based on what Murphy has been saying. Unfortunately this is more politically driven than science based.
