Loved to hunt whitetail with both bow and gun. I changed jobs in 2010 and haven't hunted since because of my work schedule. Miss it terribly.

Been a slow rut. I'm hunting a new property, then there's this SuperMoon!!! During the day, might as well be hunting on the moon! Trail cams say it's party time when the sun goes down!

For a few years, I had a hunting property directly across the road from a golf course. Several days in the bow season (October, when days were longer), I'd hunt for a few hours in the morning, hop across the road and play 9, then change back into camo for the evening hunt, lol. Of course, plans had to be changed if I tagged a deer in the AM.

Hunter in Texas here. Dove, whitetail and turkey. Used to hunt duck in college, but not too many duck opportunities in central Texas.

 

Dove season was awesome and deer hunting is hitting it's stride now with cooler weather.

very important question.....what shotgun shells do you shoot and what chokes do you use?

I use shells from a company called Nitro Company. I use their Hevishot 4x5x7 loads in my Beretta Xtrema with a Jellyhead 660 choke. Their shells are expensive but with the choke I'm shooting, I know without question that the bird will die if he's within 60 yards. I get insane pellet counts at 40 yards. Check em out.

I've been hunting for about 12 years now, basically since I moved to British Columbia. I'm fortunate to be able to get over the counter tags for most species, including Stone sheep, and Mountain Goats. The past couple of years I've been spending most of my time focusing on chasing white tail. Hoping to spend a bit more time chasing Elk this year as well, as it's pretty new to me.

Started deer hunting when I was 11 or 12 - sitting in the woods with my dad, then carrying a bow when I was legal, then carrying a rifle.

 

First step in getting a deer is seeing a deer, and it's been ages since I've even seen a deer in the woods that we hunt.  The rest of our group has gotten multiple deer over the past 10 years, and I think I've seen...maybe 2 or 3, none of which were actually legal.

 

I'm thinking about not going this year.

Mostly deer and elk but prefer birds but just dont bird hunt any more.  Rifle hunt mostly but this year its all bow.
